Chapter 3: The Phantom Sixth Man

I'm back~ :) Here is chapter 3! It's starting to get a bit interesting so I hope you enjoy! As usual, before I start I just want to say Kuroko no basket do not belong to me and this applies to the pictures too( video in this case. GoM's teamwork when catching a thief ;) ).

Each and every heads turned towards the said player and their jaws dropped. It was their first time seeing their expressionless player looking as though he was a fish. A dying fish, that is. Kuroko Tetsuya stood staring wide-eyed at Mizuki, mouth slightly agape. After few seconds, Kuroko seems to have snap out of it as he opened his mouth to speak.

But his words came out raspy and barely audible, "M...Mizu-chan"

Tetsuya Kuroko's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes. She's back. I've long given up on ever seeing her again but she is back. The past that had hurt her so deeply, I thought she would never come back again.

"Tets-chan. " she gave a small smile.

'It has changed.' I realised immediately. The smile which used to hold us together was now no longer the same and it was us. Us who have destroyed that previous smile. "When... did you come back?"

But if she came back. It can only be for one thing. As expected of our Diamond. Even if a long time have past, it seems she's found her answer. Regardless of how much HE had her, it seems she's decided to get HIM back, after all. I could feel the edges of my mouth turning up, "I've missed you, Mizu-chan. "

Mizuki Yui's POV ♦️

I looked at my best friend's face, and gave a small smile back. " I just came back from America, straight from the airport. I've missed you too, Tets-chan. "

There's still someone left that didn't change. At least from the outside.

Third POV

Seirin High's basketball team. A team currently consisting of 10 members and a coach. Now, witnessing a MIRACLE.

"He smiled. Wait... WHAT!? He SMILED!? Tetsuya Kuroko actually SMILED?!?!? Who is she to be able to make that guy smile? And did he just say, 'I've missed you'? I'VE MISSED YOU!?!!! THAT CAN'T BE KUROKO!?! UNBELIEVABLE! MY TEAM PLAYER HAS BEEN ADDUCTED BY ALIENS! ALIENS " Riko thought.

Kuroko looked at Mizuki and frowned a bit. He had expected her to change too, after all, she was hurt the most. But it still caught him by surprise when her signature huge, cheeky smile was gone, replaced by a small, incomprehensible smile. And, the usual bone-crushing hugs. Where did those go? Her cheerful greetings, did they disappear along with THEM?

Mizuki Yui's POV ♦️

Everyone was looking at me curiously. I guess it'll be rude not to introduce myself.

"Umm...ano.... I am Mizuki Yui, a first year, and I'll be studying in Seirin starting tomorrow. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu."

Everyone started opening their mouth, but Tets-chan was faster.

"You will be joining the basketball team, right? "
"Yes..." I looked over at their coach, " ...if it's okay. "
"Of course it's okay! We'll be glad to have you! I'm Riko Aida! Coach of Seirin High Basketball Team. You can call me anything you want, just there's no need for formalities. "
"I'm Hyuga, the captain. It's nice to have you with us. " the one with glasses said.
"I'm Izuki, nice to meet you. "
"Hi! I'm Koganei! And this is Mitobe! " Mitobe-sempai did some hand-signs. " Mitobe says hi and hope that you and him will get along well. "
I looked at Koganei-sempai in shock. He actually knows what Mitobe-sempai was saying?!?
"Hi! I'm tsuchida. "
"I'm Furihata."
"I'm Kawahara."
"I'm Fukuda."

"Yo, I'm Kagami Taiga. "

Ouch, this one reminds me of HIM.

FLASHBACK ( Teiko middle school )

"After what she'd shown, I believe there should be no more complaints. Welcome to the first-string. I'm the captain, Akashi Seijuro."
Then, 4 boys came to me and started introducing themselves.
"I'm Midorima. Glad to have you here-nanodayo. " nanodayo?
"Murasakibara. " ah! He's eating a lot of sweets.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Tetsuya Kuroko. " that gave me a heart-attack! I didn't even notice his presence!

I looked at the last boy. The boy who has just went against me in a one-on-one with amazing strength. What a nice colour... He has mid-night blue hair. He looked at me with a large childishly cute grin decorating his face and said

"Yo, I'm Aomine Daiki. "

FLASHBACK ENDED

"...zu-San. Mizu-San. Are you okay. "

"H...hai! " Riko-sempai looked at me and asked, "So, do you want to join as the manager or the assistant-coach?"

Th...th...that isn't what I wanted. I can't change HIM just by being manager or assistant-coach! I have to go against him and beat him!

I must have been looking very anxious because before I knew it, everyone was looking at me. I don't know how to tell them. What should I do?
"I think Mizu-chan would like to be a player. " I flipped my head around. Ah, Tets-chan! You really are my life savior!

"Nani?!?! " The team widened their eyes in shock. "You can actually play basketball?!?! "

Although a bit insulted, I still let Tets-chan do the talking.

"Hai. Mizu-chan is very good at basketball. During middle school, Akashi-kun let her enter the boys' basketball team first string. "

"Nani?!?! She studied at Teiko and how can she be playing in the boys basketball team?!?! "
Riko-sempai mused for a while before saying,"Demo...I don't remember there being a girl in Teiko basketball team... "
"She was granted permission after Akashi-kun asked the organizer. And she...she left during our second year. "
"Second year, second year... Teiko... girl... "The sempais started searching each others' face for any sign of recognition.
Hyuga-sempai's face seemed to light up before he said,"It can't be... But...I'm pretty sure there's only one girl who had ever played for the boys team. "
The others face seemed to light up too " Oh! She played for the Teiko boys' basketball team. I remember seeing her play. Although I don't remember much about that but it was my first time seeing a girl so strong!"
" Oh! Oh! Oh! You don't mean her do you? The girl that went missing some time ago? I don't really know much about her. What did they call her again? Ummm....... Oh that's it! THE DIAMOND!!! Wasn't she was all over the news! Something about a basketball genius went missing! THE MISSING DIAMOND!!! "
" That's right! Good job, Koganei! It was THE DIAMOND! "
