(RECAP)

Everyone froze and even a pin dropping to the ground could be heard. However, as sudden as can be, she suddenly pouted and hugged Kuroko. "But I wanted to play! "

Third POV

Later, everyone was told by both Kagami and Kuroko what had happened between them and Meijo. They found out that after the Seirin VS Kaijo game, Kise had met up with Kuroko. Later on Kagami came too and they saw Meijo bullying other innocent people that were playing basketball. Kuroko had went to help the bullied. In the end the three of them( Kuroko, Kagami and kise ) had ended up playing against the Meijo team. 3 VS 5. They had completely crushed the Meijo team even against all the odds.

"Oh so it was like that. Gomen... I was a bit annoyed just now. " Mizuki smiled sheepishly at her team.

'What? Just annoyed? Didn't she looked fuming mad just no?.' Only Kuroko could tell that she really was just annoyed. After all, if she'd been mad, that would have been on a whole new level.

"So anyway, for the last ten years, the same three schools have moved on to the championship league from Tokyo. King of the East, Shutoku. King of the West, Senshinkan. King of the North, Seiho. They're evenly matched, so the top team changes every year. But they never let anyone else get better than fourth place. They're the three immobile kings of Tokyo. In the finals, we'll most likely come up against... The King of East, Shutoku that acquired Midorima Shintaro of the GoM. We didn't even stand a chance last year. But now with Midorima... " Hyuga explained to the team. "Look, they're here. You'll understand if you see them play." he said as he saw a group of high schooler approaching.

'Eh, so he joined Shutoku. I missed him. It's been a long time since I've seen him, I wonder if I'll be able to talk to him again...'

"It's better to see something for yourself, than hear about it. First years, prepare yourselves. You're going to see something amazing today. They're suppose to be even more amazing this year. One of the three kings of Tokyo, Shuto-..."

'Oh! There he is!'
"Shinta-chan!!!" Mizuki yelled as she excitedly waved both her hands and rushed towards the green-hair boy.

"...-ku... ... MIZUKI!!! Where are you going!?"
Everyone stared, flabbergasted. Their only female player shouting and dashing towards one of the people considered the best. It wasn't something you would see everyday...

He heard her before he saw her. Today was an unlucky day for cancer. His mind must had been playing with him. Only one person ever calls him that. And it was impossible that that person would be here. But just to make sure anyway, the said boy turned towards the source of the voice. She can't be here. It was impossible. His horoscope never said any lucky encounter like that. And his horoscope was never wrong. Never.

But there... there she was. Right in front of him. The rival that he lost. His study partner. The only girl that he'd ever held in high regards. He respected her. She was just too amazing. And maybe. Just maybe, 1% out of 100%, he likes her a little more than just friends.

She was just about to give him one of her famous bone-crushing hugs. Just about. But she stopped herself in time to settle with just a : "Shinta-chan! How have you been?... I'm sorry for leaving without telling. " The girl that had been a little too hyperactive at first has returned to her soft-spoken voice. Bowing her head down, she was looking at the floor as though it was the answers to her problems, refusing to look at the male in front of her. She was uncertain. And nervous. All of them did change after all. Who knows how he'd react after seeing her again after so long.

Midorima looked down at the female a whole lot shorter than himself. 'It really is her. What is she doing here?! Why would she be here?! '
He had a lot of questions to ask. On that day, she'd disappear without a word. Nothing at all. Now she's returned, looking as though nothing has happened at all. 'No', he corrected himself. she was just acting as though she was okay. A lot of questions were flooding his mind but he didn't want to hurt her.

He looked at her . "It's been a long time. Your hair has gone longer. ", he fingered the end of her hair and smiled a little. Putting his hand on top of her head, it was a gesture she knew all too well. She raised her head to that familiar warmth. "You know, I really miss you. " He gave her his closed-eyes smile. A real one. A rare one. No, in fact nobody had ever seen it. Something that was unheard of to others. Until now. Mizuki Yui. She was the only one. The only one who has ever seen that smile. The first time she saw it was when she had failed her first exam in Teiko...

FLASHBACK

Mizuki Yui's POV ♦️

Today, the results will be out. I don't think I did very well but... I took one look at the scoreboard, the first was Onii-chan as expected while for me ... I never thought I'd hit rock bottom.

After school was over, I went to hide in the corner of the staircase for some alone time. Today wasn't a very good day. I got scolded by my teacher and... and... Seiju-chan hadn't been very happy. Those who failed the exams wouldn't be able to take part in the next three games because the supplementary classes happen to clash with those few days.

Suddenly, I felt someone tapping my shoulder. Turning my head around, I saw Shinta-chan looking at me. Embarrassed, I immediately put my head on my arms, covering my face. I can't believe he saw me in this state.

Shinta-chan raised my head up and rubbed both my cheeks. I didn't even realize the wetness of my cheeks. Had I actually been crying?

"I saw your name on the scoreboard." Shinta-chan spoke first. I could feel my face starts to heat up as I once again put my head down. So now he knows I got the lowest marks in this school? That's so embarrassing.

I felt a heavy burden on my head. Shinta-chan had rested his hand on my head. I look up and my eyes widened in surprise. Shinta-chan was actually smiling. Closed-eyes. "You don't have to worry about your marks. Just do better next time. As for the games you'll be missing, there's nothing you can do about that. You should use that time to study well so nothing like this happens again. I'll help you if you want. " "Uhn. " I nodded my head, feeling a warmth I've never thought would come out of him.

It was from that day onwards. We grew closer to each other. Everytime we were free, we'd go to the library to work on my studies. It looks like all those studies paid off.

It was a surprise five months later when my name unbelievably appeared in the top twenty list. Omg! That...that's my name! My hands flew to my mouth in the next instant, stopping me from gasping out loud. Shinta-chan! I need to find Shinta-chan and tell him!

I ran around school trying to locate Shinta-chan. Out of breath, I stopped at an isolated classroom. I was starting to lose hope when I felt a presence behind me. I turned around and standing there, was Shinta-chan, holding a popsicle. Are? I'm pretty sure our school don't sell popsicles. Did he go outside of school just to buy a popsicle? Shinta-chan gave me that smile I had grown to like so much and handed me the popsicle. I raised my eyebrow and gave him a questioning look.

"Baka, it's for you. I saw the scoreboard. Congratulation. You did great! " He said.
"Thanks! Shinta-chan, you were amazing too! "

FLASHBACK ENDED

You would have expected someone like him to blush while comforting others but no, it would be a closed-eyes smile that you'd see. Or maybe it was only for her. Either way, it had shocked her beyond believe the first time she saw it. And now, it seems to be having the same effect on the Shutoku members.

'You got to be kidding me!'
'That's definitely not Midorima.'
'Did that horoscope weirdo just smile?!'
'He actually smiled...'
'Someone give me a pineapple.'
