~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(RECAP)
The woman who must have been sleeping peacefully with her back leaning against the tombstone woke up from their presence and turned towards their direction.
As her still slightly sleepy gaze fell onto the two of them, or rather, on Mizuki, Aizawa Yui felt her entire body stiffened.
At that precise instant, 3 pairs of eyes widened and 1 basket of snow-white daisies scattered onto the ground, mixing with the pink Sakura petals.
Third POV
As the basket fell onto the ground, the sound seemed to have woken Aizawa from her trance.
"You... " the slightly dazed gaze was instantly replaced by a smile that wasn't even close to meeting her eyes at all. "I didn't know you'd bring yourself to me. "
Aomine reacted the moment he saw her, immediately pulling Mizuki behind his back. He hid her well out of sight of Aizawa who felt her smile twitching in slight annoyance.
"I've seen you before. " she mused. "Where was it? "
"Do you remember this scar? " he lifted his right arm, a light smile playing provocatively on his lips. "It was a masterpiece left by you. "
She tilted her head, took another closer look before she seemed to recognize it. "I remember now. You were the boy who got in my way the last time. And twice at that. "
"So as expected, the fire was set by you. " despite the tight smile still on his face, his hands were already clenched. "Yui refused to say a single word about that day. "
"Well of course she wouldn't. " Aizawa pushed herself up as she walked towards them. "She should just quietly accept her retribution. "
"You're her mother, how could you bear to hurt her like this?! "
Unexpectedly, Aizawa paused.
Unlike that day where she had set the fire, she has been released from the hospital now. Her hatred was still as great yet somehow, she couldn't bear to meet the eyes of the trembling small girl holding onto Aomine's shirt.
Still, Aizawa ignored whatever her conscience was trying to tell her and focused solely on that sense of loss. "She is not my daughter. "
Behind him, the small girl bit her lips and stiffened. The hands around Aomine's shirt tightened and he protectively held onto her hand as he worriedly looked over. "Yui. "
"I... I have found someone important to me. " the small girl timidly said in a quiet voice with her head looking down and hands that were shaking a little. "I don't want to leave him. "
