Chapter 8 Huter and Hunted

Hey, I know the last chapter took a while, but please vote on my story, comment, and tell your friends about my story. Please comment if you want me to write any other fanfics, though when this is over, harry potter is next. don't know what ship to make, but my one rule is for harry potter fanfic is no canon ships. so Dramione, Harry's twin sister, Harmony, or anything else, I'm open!

Zuko POV

When Katara fell unconscious after meditation, I didn't know what happened. She was sitting there with a blue glow around her eyes and a fainter one around her body, the ice behind us was creating a faint light, and Kartara's flame went out the only thing I could see was the shadows that we create, and her dying blue glow. When she fell, her soft word of "Zuko," and she slipped into unconsciousness, I hugged her and left the beautiful pink flames flicker out from the small fire she made from meditation I get the feeling she just was asleep, not gone. 

I dared not break the ice that kept the water out. Not with the risk of letting Katara die. So instead I wait for her to wake up. By moring she is up and listed of me waking her up, she's waking up me, and not even 30 seconds later I'm getting a dose of good old cold water. 

"Wow, I was not expecting to wake up that way. how long did it take you to wake up? Was it morning already?"

"no a few hours. I let you sleep a while. My avatar state really drains my energy. I ended up being able to earthbend a little bit actually, I expanded our tunnel. it now has a real place for both of us to sleep."

"wait, WHAT? You actually earthbended, and you essentially made our tents, underground?"

"yes, precisely that." and with that, she turns around, and goes back to the campsite I follow her, not knowing what to do. When I get there, Katara is facing Raven, who looks frantic, explaining where we were last night. Then Sokka comes out of his tent and marches toward me. he takes my arm and goes to the lake.

"where were you last night, anyway, under the lake. But anyway, if you hurt my sister in any way, you will have pain. a lot of it."

"Katara made a tunnel for us and figured out how to get into the avatar state, we ended up sleeping there, she actually fell asleep right after she came out of the avatar state, so yeah"

Sokka gets up. he just leaves. So I head back to the camp feeling rather bored until I heard the screams of Katara and Raven. I started running, and when I got there, a fire nation ship and a small battalion had arrived. The mess they had made, the things that they had just done. Raven's sky bison chained up, ships docking on the shore, and soldiers coming on land.

A familiar face had shown up. Azula. With blue fire and lightning, she was always a tough opponent. And with her came Ozai's Angels. Mai, we still despise each other, and Ty Lee. The circus freak had already started going after Sokka, and Mai had Raven up against the tree, and she and Azula started ganging up on Katara. But she wouldn't be facing them alone. She would have me. Together we were throwing fire, and Katara's eyes started to glow whiteish blue. I knew what was coming, the Avatar state. When her eyes were full-on white-blue, a tidal wave came in pulling soldiers out to sea, and when that was over, She was creating a pink fire tornado, fueled by firebending and airbending, the tornado eventually opened up to reveal Katara. Eyes white, levitating on air, saying, 

"leave now, or be destroyed." and Azula showing a rare face of fear, ran, with Mai and Ty Lee behind her. Ty Lee did get the better of Sokka, and he eventually got up. Me being a good friend to Katara finally got her out of the avatar state. When the fire dissipated, and Katara was now just hovering on air, she came out of the avatar state, and slowly fell unconscious. On the ground, she simply just lie there. one minute later she was up again. 

"What happened to me?"

"Well, when Azula came along, you know the crazed firebending maniac, you stated throwing fire, so was I, but that's not important right now, anyway, you went into the avatar state, made a tidal wave, then started a pink flame tornado, and the shouted at Azula to leave or be destroyed, and yeah, that's what happened, oh also you fell unconscious again."

"well, uh how about we make ourselves some breakfast. maybe we could head into town, and get some things to eat." Raven then pitched in.

"what if we get some nuts and roots, I could make them into a soup."

"sounds fine Raven," said Katara. "I'm going to go into my cave for a little." She went down with some supplies from her tent, and just yeeted herself into the lake. like a full-on dove, headfirst dive, obviously surrounding herself with air as she did so. I didn't follow, because, a, I didn't want to evaporate the entire lake, and b, if I didn't evaporate the lake, I could not breathe for long enough to get to the bottom. So instead I just waited at the lakeside and went fishing. Once I caught one. A small blue fish with purple and green fins.

She came up to the surface eventually. On a water tower, but she came down to land.

"what were you doing down there? there was enough time to make Sokka start making jokes, and bad ones at that."

"oh you know, decorating, making proper bedrooms for the both of us so we can sleep there, setting up some torches and making our tunnel nice. Wanna see?"

"Alright, let's go." As we dive down, it's kind of eerie. Since the last times, I went down or up I was either half asleep, or it was dark out. Now this time I took in the dive down. our feet were in the water, and we were at least six feet under, and a big fish came up to us as I kissed her, and she kissed me back, we were together so long that we hit the bottom, and I could see the ice, I was the one who had to break the kiss, we were already at the bottom of the lake, so all we had to do to truly be safe was get to our tunnel, and so katara waterbended an ice tunnel to the surface and a ladder to get up and down, she waterbent all the water above us in the tunnel to the surface into humidity, then she just connected the tunnels, just like that.  Then I knew that this was our place and no one could get to us here. That until the next day, when Azula came back. 

Next Day

Oh no. She is here, and she wants only destruction, katara and I hide in the lake tunnel, thinking we are safe and we stay there. A frightened Katara hugs me and I hug her back, so we head into the tent-style room Katara made, and she shut the door with earthbending.

"Wow, since when could you do that? Uh, Katara?"

"Well, when you were asleep in the tunnel, you know when I passed out, after the avatar state, I practiced my earthbending, and well, I got pretty good, so that was good. But this is a big situation. So uh, calling on the avatar state at will. and all that, you know."

"Wow, can we chat about this later?" and bits of dirt start falling from the ceiling.
