Innayo slowly moves her hand again till it's directly above her nose and mouth. Lowering her hand carefully, she attempts to drag the cup like thingy but Amal beats her to it. As Amal removes it, Innayo figures out that it's actually an oxygen mask. Innayo figures out moving her mouth might not be hard as at now since her body doesn't feel that heavy anymore. And how right she is.
"I need water. And please let me sit up." Innayo says and Amal, together with Afnan help her to get up. Afnan feeds her water and Doctor Kwami asks them to step back while he checks her up.
Afnan is the first to move back as she doesn't want a repeat of what has been happening lately. Amal follows and they both stand behind the doctor and nurse, praying intently and and furiously that Innayo is finally okay.
"Well, everything is okay. She's fine. But she's dehydrated, and she needs real water and food. Mostly vitamins and iron. Reduce her intake of potassium and calcium please. Cholesterol too." Doctor Kwami says looking at Afnan who's trying so hard not to look at him.
Over the two months that they've been in the hospital, Afnan has developed a huge crush on Doctor Kwami, despite that, she's not paying any heed to his advances as she knows that her father wouldn't allow her to get married at this early age. She's just in her freshers year for crying out loud!
"Uhmm, Amal, can I see you in my office?" Afnan whips her head up, narrowing her eyes at Doctor Kwami. Is he aware that her sister is already betrothed, to get married at the soonest? He should better not try anything with her sister or else... She takes calming breath, flushing all putrid thoughts from her head. Even if Doctor Kwami wants to be mad, Amal surely has enough sense in her.
Doctor Kwami on the other hand can feel her eyes boring heated holes at the side of his face but he needs to do this. She's a gem and he can't let her go to save his life. He's too deep in to let go. He's been trapped by her love and he's not willing, ever to escape from this trap.
"Okay sure. Let's go." Amal says and waits for him to walk out before she tails behind.
Afnan looks over to Innayo and sees thst she's sleeping. They probably injected her. She picks her phone and calls Abba, he has to know that Innayo is awake.
A few minutes later, Amal comes back into the room. Afnan looks at her, waiting to see if she'll say something, anything. But she doesn't speak. Instead, she picks her bag, phone and car key.
"Afnan, the doctor has given Ammi a strict diet. He said they injected her with a pain reliever which will make her sleep but she'll probably wake up in the morning. The essence of the pain reliever is to reduce the body pain she'll feel when she wakes up due to cramped muscles and all that. Also, the nurse is bringing in a kettle, boil some hot water and keep. She'll need to take some to open her something digestive something. I can't remember exactly what he said." Afnan nods and Amal leaves.
True to Amal's words, the grumpy nurse brings in a kettle filled with water some minutes later. As Afnan stands up to plug it, Abba and Fatima come rushing in.
"You said she's awake, she isn't." Abba is the first to speak.
"She is, they just injected her with a pain reliever so she went to sleep. But she'll be awake by morning." Afnan says and Abba nods. Fatima being the doctor she is goes upto her and checks her. After checking for sometime, she nods to Abba who heaves a sigh of relief.
"Afnan, go home and rest okay?" Her whole body is screaming yes, but her heart is saying no. It needs to see the reason for its beat every morning.
"Okay Abba, please call me when she awakes." Abba nods and she leaves.
On reaching home, she sees Amal cooking and excitedly talking to none other than Hamza on the phone. Fatima did a great job by getting them back together. Without saying as much as a letter, she walks upstairs to her room and turns on the heater. She picks her phone up and plugs it to charge.
She needs to tell Halima and Mummy about Innayo's Awakening. She brings out her laptop and goes on Skype, Halima is online? By this time? Shrugging it off, she rings her up, she doesn't pick for almost a minute. Just as Afnan is about to end the call, Halima picks.
"Sorry Amalie, I was finishing my final assignment. You know we're graduating in the next two weeks, so we've been bombarded with so many assignments. I'm even tired of seeing food." Halima groans. She's looking fresh and a little bit chubbier. Her stomach looks a little bit fuller, maybe it's because she just finished eating.
"Mashaa Allah. May Allah make it easier for you. I have extremely good news." Afnan grins.
"Spill!"
"Ammi is awake." Halima squeals, hitting her laptop in the process.
"Sorry, Ya Ilahi I'm so happy. Are you at the hospital now?" Afnan shakes her head and Halima nods.
They gist some more and they later call it a night. Amal comes in minutes later, asking if they could share the room as she can't find her room key. Afnan agrees and as she lays down to sleep, she hears Amal's phone ring. Amal groans before picking the call and a voice she'd never expect salams.
"Assalamu Alaikum. Are you at home now? I hope you drove safely?" Doctor Kwami says. Tears gather in Afnan's eyes so she turns away from Amal.
"Yes I did. You need to sleep. I don't want you stressing yourself out." Amal says and Doctor Kwami chuckles.
"Anything for you b." And that does it, Afnan silently cries.
"If my baby, my husband hears you, bah ruwana." Doctor Kwami chuckles.
They talk some more while doctor Kwami attempts to flirt with Amal. After roughly ten minutes, they end the call and Amal goes to sleep. Throughout that night, Afnan cries. She'll probably look like hell tomorrow but who cares, she's hurting and only she can help herself.
The problem between Lash and Umma has been solved. Even though Umma doesn't miss an opportunity to insult Lash, they're still good.
Today, Lash is posting her first blog in almost four months. She was convinced by Qifdiyya and Hussaina to do that. And according to them, she can't take the video without her inlaws. So because of that, she's going over to their house for a sleepover.
She has packed all what she thinks necessary for the sleep over and is now driving to the house.
On reaching there, she takes the small Givenchy suitcase holding all the necessities she brought. She passes the foyer and hears laughter coming from the parlor. As she enters, she sees about ten ladies, including the four ladies of the house, sitting in the parlor all in wine gowns and peach headgears.
"Oh. My. God. Is that HumyLash?" One of the ladies, a fair slim one says standing up, with one of her hands covering her mouth.
"Yeah, she's our sister inlaw." Hussaina brags proudly.
"And Ummieta_XX is my sister." One of the girls, a dark slender one wearing a bored look says, rolling her eyes.
"Aleeshba." Qifdiyya calls in a warning tone and the Aleeshba girl rolls her eyes.
"It's Aleeshbah. With a h." Aleeshbah says dragging the ee and putting emphasis on the h.
"Whatever." Hussaina says and jumps over the couch standing in between her and Lash.
