Maybe if she hadn't listened to all the begging and persuasion she wouldn't be here. Hannah has always been their parents favorite. Aleesha then, was like an outcast.
Aleesha was never like this, but her mother and father made her to change. At the age of ten, Aleesha was a sweet intelligent girl who had to skip alot of classes due to her smartness.
That fact made Hannah jealous of her and therefore requested to be promoted rapidly just like Aleesha was. But Hannah wasn't smart enough, so her mother made her dedicate all her time to things she loved, fashion and art.
Then, when Hannah was first introduced to fashion, she was in JSS 1 one while Aleesha, JSS three. Hannah came back home that day asking Aleesha to explain what a kiss is. Aleesha, not wanting her sister's mind to be filled with negative stuff at a young age, blatantly refused.
When their parents came back, Hannah went to them and told them that Aleesha kissed a boy. That was the first day Aleesha's father actually raised his hand on her. He beat Aleesha mercilessly.
Hannah, being the little Tasmanian devil she was told Aleesha she knew everything about sex and whatnot. And that it was just the practical aspect that was remaining. No one in her music class was willing to show her the practical aspect so she had to try and convince Aleesha to teach her.
Weeks passed, Hannah begged Aleesha everyday to teach her, but she blatantly refused continuously. A day came when Hannah wrote a letter to their parents, posing as Aleesha that the latter wants to be a pornstar or a stripper or even both.
That made Aleesha's father to change Aleesha's school to where her mother was the proprietress. This was so that her mother could keep an eye on her. That was where she met her Romeo, Sa'eed. She was tiredly absentmindedly walking when she twisted her ankle. She shrieked in pain gaining people's attention.
Sa'eed then being the acting health prefect for junior secondary took her to the sick bay where she was treated, then and there, she knew she had gotten her soulmate.
They became friends and after alot of persuasion from Aleesha she finally opened up to Sa'eed who pitied her and protected her like a sister. Lash became her best friend but Sa'eed always warned her against her.
And when everything between Aleesha and Sa'eed went downhill while they were in SS one, Lash showed herself to be a sorcerer in training and she used Sa'eed's hair to spell him such that he wouldn't remember most of the things that happened between them. But the spell wasn't to last forever. Once he turns thirty, the spell would be broken.
And that is in five months time. So within that five months, Aleesha has to act fast and trap him in a love spell that'd bind them forever. If not... problems will occur.
"Hajiya we're here. But it seems like the gate is closed and there is no one by the gate. I've honked at the gate twice yet no response." Hajjo's driver says breaking her out of her train of thoughts. She has been wondering why Halima hasn't called her for the past two days. It's not like her at all. She always calls her everyday, no matter how late or early. And to make matters worse, Hajjo has called Halima's phone which has been ringing without response, Sa'eed's is switched off.
"Ask around if they know about their whereabouts. " Hajjo says absentmindedly. She's tired, she just came back from Bulgaria where she planned a get together for an affluent business man only to be met with the news of her best friend being hospitalized, and now this.
The driver walks out and comes back minutes later.
"What did they say?"
"One man said he's never seen them come outside except when a lady came out once and was shouting thief thief. Then the other said he saw two cars rushing out of the house and no one has gone inside or come out since then. He thinks they went to a hospital."
"A hospital! What happened?" Hajjo exclaims, different wild thoughts running through her hazed mind.
"They said they think they were attacked in the house. They don't really know. People here always keep to themselves." The driver states matter-of-factly. Hajjo nods, hidrosis covering her forehead.
"True. Take me home. I have to think this through over a cup of hot coffee." Hajjo massages her forehead, a migraine forming. She can't get worried now. And telling Innayo isn't even an option. Abba and Afnan need some rest too.
Sa'eed walks into the hospital room with a Cheshire grin on his face.
"Assalamu alaikum ya hubbee." Sa'eed grins.
"Ameen wa alaikas Salam." Halima answers silently making sure Sa'eed doesn't hear her. But he does.
"Baby, I'm sorry. Kiyi hakuri kinji? I was just... there's nothing I can do or say that will justify my actions. The deed has been done and I'm sorry." Sa'eed turns to where she is facing making her to turn abruptly, tears gathering in her eyes.
There is no relationship without trust. Sa'eed doesn't trust her. How? Why? Since when? She doesn't know. But she can't be living with a man - her husband - who doesn't trust her. She just can't!
What type of life is this? Just one month after their wedding and this, this... calamity befalls them. But it's all her fault.
Maybe she's overreacting, maybe she isn't. But she's sure no woman will take this lying down.
Just on cue, her phone rings again. It's at the far end of the room making it hard for her to get it. It's been ringing non-stop since she regained consciousness an hour ago.
Sa'eed rushes over, gets her phone and hands it over to her. It's Audu, her father that's calling. She picks the call.
"Salamu alaikum Daddy ina wuni." Halima greets in a gruff and weak voice.
"Ah ahn. Are you just waking up from sleep? Why is your voice like that are you okay? Where are you? " Audu bombards his daughter with questions making her to let out a sad smile followed by a weak chuckle which results in her coughing continuously till Sa'eed hands her a bottle of water which she gulps down almost immediately.
"No, I'm not just waking up, I just haven't talked since I regained consciousness. And well, that's why my voice is the way it is. And also I'm at a hospital, I don't know which though, I was brought her unconscious. But I'm sure it's here in Kuje. " Halima says and coughs again.
"Hospital? What happened? Why did you lose consciousness? Are you okay? Where's Sa'eed?" Anyone can hear the panic in Audu's voice.
"Calm down daddy. I think I'm okay now because I don't feel any pain except for my chest pain."
"Was it an attack?"
"I think so."
"Where's your husband? I need to know where he was when you fell unconscious." Audu's voice raises an octave.
"He was in the house."
"He was in the house and he let you fall unconscious? Where's he?" A voice which Halima assumes to be her mum's asks what's going on from the background.
"He's here." Halima hands the phone to Sa'eed.
"Assalamu alaikum baba in wuni." Sa'eed greets squatting as if Audu can see him.
"Forget about greetings. Where were you when your wife fell unconscious?" Audu thunders making Sa'eed flinch. Having a retired soldier for a father inlaw is not a good idea, at all.
"We had a little fight so she locked herself up in the room, I had to break the door down, only to find her unconscious."
"What happened? Send me your location right now. I'm on my way. " Audu says and shuffling can be heard from the background. The call is ended and Sa'eed turns to Halima who has her eyes closed.
"Please don't tell them what happened when they arrive. We can solve this like a matured couple." Sa'eed says making Halima snicker loudly followed by a scoff.
"Matured my foot." She hisses.
