Chapter 31

3rd Person POV

Soon, Teresa was able to push Thomas into the Berg as Minho and Gally caught ahold of his arm at the last second. They use all their strength to pull Thomas into the Berg.
"No!!!!" Just as they were about to reach out for Teresa, the very building gave way. The others can only watch in horror as the girl fell to her death.
"TERESA!!" Thomas cried as this happened.
"No! No!!" He cried into Minho's shoulder before going unconscious.

As all of these unfolded, Newt and Cara were lost in their own world. Newt inhaled her scent like his life depended on it as he lay there on the floor of the Berg with Cara's weight on his chest. He kissed her with all the longing he has harbored over not seeing her for months, saying I love you's in between breaths.
"Cara?" Newt held her cheek and tried looking into her eyes after the kiss. But her eyes remained shut, and her body still.
"Cara?" She gently nudged the girl and held her face. But there was no response.
He propped himself on his arm when Cara's head fell limply on his arms.
"Hey, love? Cara?? Wake up." Panic started to set in as he laid her down, still nudging her, hoping she'd just fallen asleep. Only then did he see the massive blood stain on her shirt.
"Shit. No!! No. Cara!! Help! She's hurt!!" Newt called out to the others. He lifted Cara's shirt and saw a severe gun wound on her abdomen.
"Gally!!! Minho!!!" He called out. He looked over and saw that they were also tending to an injured Thomas. Gally came rushing to him.
"Shit." He too began to panic as he felt for a pulse.
"It's barely there." He said worriedly to Newt. Minho who was helping out with Thomas looked over to them, his eyes widening in fear as he realized that both of his friends' lives are in danger.
"Hey, hey baby. Please, no. Don't leave me. Love, you can't leave me. Please no." Newt began to cry as he applied pressure on Cara's wound. Other people started to gather around them to help out. Someone brought a breathing mask over along with some blood supply which she then started attaching to Cara using a catheter.
"Hold on, love. Please stay with me. Stay with me. Please." He continued to say, hoping that Cara would open her eyes and be okay.
"I can't lose you again." He whispered hoping Cara could hear.
