backup

Summary: Peter had a personal mission and it went south.

"Karen, find me the fastest route, come on!" He stand on the roof of a truck, heading to Illinois from Indiana. "The distance from your location to Illinois is around 92km. I suggest you hold onto the truck until you reach the destination."

Peter sigh and stay inside the truck, just waiting for Karen to tell him that he's at the destination.

Ever since the last mission, the Avengers has been staying off radar so Fury only has one person to reach, which is Spider-Man.

He asked Peter to retrieve an old archive of SHIELD, which is pretty dangerous. But Nick trust him, he saw how he has been and the potential he got.

"Remember, this archive is valuable both to SHIELD and the world. If this fail, we're gonna have to start over again from the bottom." Fury showed him a brief of his mission.

"Why me? Why not Captain? Mr. Stark? You got a lot of people but you chose me instead."

"That's the point of this whole mission, kid. If we retrieve the archive, we might be able to call all the Avengers. Because of this archive got stolen, I asked them to stay really low under the radar. But you, you're not an Avengers yet." He sit on his chair.

"But Mr. Fury, I am not even prepared to become part of Avengers. I'm just the friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man, not Iron Man or Captain America." He stresses out in the meeting room.

Fury sighed at the words. "No one asked you to become Iron Man, or Captain America. There's nobody else that you can be except you." Fury put his hand over Peter's shoulder and smile at him.

If not because of Nick's words, he wouldn't have been on the mission. He always think that someone like him isn't capable enough to do something more than other Avengers would do. So he choose the mission, and prove to himself that he can be him to save people.

He look over to the files and saw the Avengers pictures, which has slight description under each photos.

"Peter, you have arrived at your destination. I suggest you jump out from the truck in 10 seconds."

He assemble all the files and put it in his backpack as he slowly open the door. "Okay, this isn't what I imagined."

With the truck still moving, he had to jump off of the truck and head to his west in about 5km. "Alright, its time." He jump off from the truck and swing to the left. "Of course, its snowy. Karen, heater."

He walk stealthily into the abandoned facility. He open the door and just walk down the hallway. He run through the files one last time.

Director of Science Department, Howard Stark.

He walk into the room and saw bunch of files and hard drives.

He took all the archives and put it in his backpack. "Hey, Mr. Fury, I got all o-"

A kick onto his gut disturbed Peter's call with Nick. He got up back and fight the guy with his bare and strong hand.

The guy shot him in the stomach and rip part of his mask. "Give me the archives." He aimed his gun towards him.

Peter kick off the gun and webbed him onto the wall. He took his phone and swing to the main road and stick himself onto a truck.

"The archives are safe with me." He informed. "Very well, you have a ride to Washington?" The moment Nick asked Peter, he was already passed out on top of the truck while bleeding his stomach out.

He found himself waking up in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the trees and with snow topping on him. He take his mask off and just walk around the area but there's nothing nearby.

He look over to his phone and try to turn it on but its out of battery. He thought that its only supposed to be a one day mission since Nick will got him covered with his rides.

There's nothing he couldn't do. His stomach bleed out so bad and slowly affecting his muscles because of the cold. His legs becomes weak as he stumble down into the snows.

"Karen, are you there?"

"My system is down and it seems like it will take approximately an hour to get it back up again."

Peter try so hard to keep his eyes open but he couldn't. "Tell Tony... Emergency backup." He shivered. The blood wouldn't stop and he is slowly losing his conscious.

"Backup..." His last words before his visions blacked out.

"Kid, wake up! Pete, wake up, come on now, you can't lose." Tony aggressively shake his body. "Backup."

His eyebrows furrowed and his eyes are slowly starting to open. "Yeah, good, now wake up kid. Backup his here." He put a big bandage over his wound and put him in one of his functional suit. "FRIDAY, turn on the heater for Mark 46. Give me the diagnosis."

"Mr. Parker is currently hypothermic and he's losing a lot of blood from a gunshot wound on stomach."

"Tell Banner to get his ass at the medbay. Give me some juice."

He fly away to the Avengers Compound and eject Peter from the Mark 46. "Tony, what happened?"

"Kid got sent to a mission under Fury's order." He put him on the bed and keep pressuring on the wound. "Hypothermic, gunshot wound on the stomach and he's losing a lot of blood."

Banner begins to work the procedure and stitch him up immediately. "This is not good, Tony. Most of his organs aren't working perfectly because of the cold stopping the blood flow."

Tony only has one choice to stop the cold. He grab Peter and put him on a metal surface. "Do me a favor FRIDAY."

"Turning on the fire."

The surface begins to heat up and Banner immediately check on his internal organs. "Alright, slowly working. I didn't thought that you would put him on the fucking grill."

"There was no choice!" He shouted. Peter's eye twitch and he began to mumble the same thing over and over again. "Backup."

"Hypothermic slowly losing it but still affecting him at the mean time. How about we leave him for a few moment?"

Banner escorted Tony out from medbay and grab the backpack that Peter had earlier. "So, Fury sent him to a mission, but none of us know about it?"

"Yeah, it seems like its dangerous that only he and Fury knew about it." He

He just throw the bag onto a seat beside him.

Few hours passed, and Tony went back into the ward. "He's still asleep but he's slowly doing good."

"Thank god, if I ignored the message he wouldn't make it."

"You've been ignoring him?"

"Yeah, otherwise they can track him." Tony sighed. "Well, that's a relief that he called you."

"Fury is gonna have to rewrite the Avengers Initiative or I'll leave him in the cold without backup."
