18. The Great Thing About Family

Shinso felt like he should be jealous over how fast his sister had taken a liking to Kaminari, only taking till after dinner for her to be hanging from his side, but it was too damn cute that he didn't care if his boyfriend was being stolen by a 5-year-old. He didn't know if it was his instincts talking or what, but the alpha loved seeing Kaminari with a kid, there was something about the way that the omega would pick Eri up and twirl them around a few times before sitting her on his hip that just made Shinso fall even more in love with him.

They were currently making cookies and... let's just say not much of it was staying in the bowls.

Eri squealed a small laugh as some flower got shot up out of the bowl accidentally and onto her face. Both boys laughed and Kaminari turned around to find a small hand towel to wipe the small girl's face. "I'm sorry Eri, I didn't mean to get that on you."

Shinso laughed lightly from behind them. "You know it's supposed to stay in the bowl, right Denks?" He asked, taking the whisk and mixing the dry ingredients. "Not on my sister's face?"

Kaminari turned to the alpha. "I don't think I saw that in the instructions Hito, I thought it was supposed to end up on our faces," he laughed, flicking a little bit of the extra flower at his boyfriend.

Shinso rolled his eyes, whipping his face. "You know what I mean." The omega just hummed, smiling up at his boyfriend fondly.

"Denki can I mix this bowl?" Eri asked trying to pull the bowl of liquids closer to herself and nearly spilling it all. Kaminari caught it before it could tip.

"Sure, but let's get you something to stand on so you don't tip the bowl ok?"

They pulled one of the chairs over from the dining table and set it in front of the island where the mess that was their baking took place. Shinso helped Eri climb up onto the chair while Kaminari attempted to work the oven out. It was different from the one he had at home so it was confusing, to say the least.

"Hito? How does the oven work? We got to preheat it," he asked pointing to the buttons that covered the front of the oven.

Shinso showed Kaminari how to work the oven before going back to Eri to help her pour the two bowls together and mix.

Did Kaminari just sit back and watch as Shinso helped Eri? Yes. Did this make him somehow fall even further in love with his boyfriend? Also yes. Did this also get him thinking about all the time they missed together over the summer? Once again yes.

Eri was the first to notice the saddened look on the omega's face. She pulled at Shinso's sleeve a few times and pointed over to Kaminari, alerting the alpha and making him a little worried that his boyfriend was sad.

"Hey Denks, everything ok?" Shinso asked going over to the blond.

Kaminari looked up at Shinso. "Huh? Oh, yeah, all good here." His sad smile was quickly replaced with a grin.

Shinso's brows furrowed. "You sure? You look sad."

Kaminari's grin faltered for a moment but didn't leave his face completely. "I was just thinking, about all that time we missed over the summer because of that stupid misunderstanding we had. I could have met Eri sooner or we could have-" Shinso cut him off, putting his hands on Kaminari's shoulders.

"We talked about this, didn't we? It's not your fault, and it's not mine. We were going to forget about it remember?" Shinso asked quietly.

Kaminari took in a deep breath and nodded. "Right. Let's keep baking these cookies!" Kaminari said forcing a big smile onto his face. He kissed Shinso quickly before going over to Eri and continued to help her mix the liquids and dries together.
