Life without Anthony didn't make any sense to Lyssie. She spent her days laying in her bed, with no motivation to get up or take a shower. She was absent on all the classes that week, but the teachers seemed to be understanding. All her friends tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't say a word. They would try to come in and at least sit with her for a little bit, but any time they approached her, she just turned away and put her head in the pillow.

At first, she refused to believe that her dad was gone. She didn't want to accept that he passed away and kept finding various possible storylines. Maybe Malfoy lied to her in the first place and her dad wasn't really a Death Eater. He could have come up with this story to scare her or maybe make fun of her. Perhaps, he just pretended to be her friend and actually wanted to ruin her life, by getting closer at first, and hurting her so bad soon after? It was a stupid joke that continued for so long for some reason. Draco wasn't a nice person in the first place, so why would he be so polite to her? Why would he make an exception? It didn't sound logical in her head.

Or maybe Dumbledore lied to her? The headmaster was known for his eccentric ideas and maybe it was just one of them? He prepared this whole show to spread panic and tell everyone that it was just one of his jokes soon. He somehow engaged the whole school into his plan, and everyone played with it. It sounded plausible, at least in her head.

She also thought that he might have meant a different Anthony Abbot. It was a popular name. For sure, Dumbledore, had a different Anthony Abbot in his mind. She run away before he had the time to explain it to her and now, maybe he forgot to do it, while she was hiding in her bedroom. It couldn't be her dad, it wasn't possible. He was too strong and too skilled to let someone kill him like that. Dumbledore said that Voldemort didn't have his full power yet, so how could he murder someone? Let alone, to murder such an amazing wizard!

Lyssie lied in her bed and waited for an owl to fly into the room with a letter from her dad. He was going to tell her that he was alright and that he's sorry he didn't reply for so long. He was busy working. He got a new job in another school and had no time to answer her letter in between checking all the test and essays. Her dad could come see her any time. If he didn't send her an owl, he would come visit. She would be laying in her bed and he'd walk from around the corner. It could happen any moment. He couldn't be gone, right?!

But he was gone. The realization came around the third day. Pansy just brought her some food from the Great Hall and put in on the bedside table. Lyssie put her head up and looked at her. Pansy looked relieved at first, but the worry came soon after.

"Is it real?" Lyssie asked.

"Please, eat something," she replied nervously. "You haven't eaten in three days. I can't stand it anymore."

So it was real. Why would she not eat in three days, if her dad was still around? All of the sudden, Lyssie became furious. She grabbed the pillow, punched herself in the face with it and screamed as loud as she could.

How could he leave her like that? How could he leave her if he claimed he loved her? If he did, he wouldn't die. Lyssie wasn't sure if she was angry at her dad, or at herself. She suddenly hated Anthony for dying, as if it was his fault.

If he fought for himself, it wouldn't have happened. He wasn't forced to become a Death Eater. It was his choice and now he is gone, and Lyssie is all alone in the world. She won't see him for Christmas, and she won't come back home for holidays. And it was all because of his stupid ideas about becoming a Death Eater. His idiotic decisions killed him and killed her mum. Probably, Voldemort wanted to kill her as well, but right now, she didn't care about it at all. She wished Voldemort came to Hogwarts and murdered her too. That way, she could see her parents again and just be with them in heaven.
