The day of the Yule Ball was truly magical. The corridors of the castle were completely empty, but you could feel the excitement in the air. Most students could be found in their dormitories, getting ready for the big evening. Some of the boys, however, felt that they needed just a couple of minutes to put on their suits and were sat in the common rooms. No matter what they were doing, everyone anticipated the evening.

Lyssie has just gotten out of the shower and was now sitting on her bed, drying her hair with a spell. She preferred to let it dry naturally because it made it look less puffy, but there was no time for that. That day, she was planning on pinning it up and creating some sort of bun, so it didn't really matter. Daphne was trying her dress on, and Pansy was putting some pinkish lipstick on.

"If Draco doesn't put on the bowtie I gave him, I'm going to kill him," Pansy said as she was making sure her lipstick is even. "We're supposed to match, you know."

Daphne swirled in front of a mirror. She was wearing a long, red dress, which sparkled in the light. Her hair was now down, but she was ready to pin it up.

"Or course. Paul will be wearing all black," she said. "I don't trust his sense of style. Do you remember what he wore last year? Embarrassing!"

Pansy giggled.

The evening came and the girls left their dormitory. They looked around the room trying to spot the boys. Draco was standing right next to the door, wearing a black tailcoat with a dark grey shirt underneath. On his neck, there was a black bowtie.

"Why did you wear this?!" Pansy said angrily.

Malfoy frowned.

"What do you mean?"

"I gave you a blue bowtie. Look." She pointed on her dress. "Blue! We were supposed to match!"

He rolled his eyes.

"I must have lost it," he lied.

Lyssie giggled.

"I think you look great," she said.

Draco smiled and all of them left the common room. When they walked into the entry hall, Lyssie noticed her partner.

Fred was standing there with his brother and a brown-haired, tall girl. Lyssie didn't know her but assumed that she was George's date. She said goodbye to her friends and walked towards Fred. He was wearing a dark brown tailcoat with a vest underneath. Lyssie has never seen Fred so elegant, but she had to admit that she liked the view.

"Wow!" he said. "George, look, I'm going to the ball with the best chick in the whole school!"

"A chick?!" Lyssie asked pretending to me offended and held his arm as he reached out to her.

"A lady!" Fred corrected himself immediately and grinned at her.

"Don't listen to him, Angelina," George said to the girl. "You're the best chick on the whole school."

"No, Lyssie is!" Fred argued.

"Angelina is!" George replied.

"Boys, boys!" Angelina stopped them. "Can we agree that both of you scored this year and join the rest in the Great Hall?"

Fred and George nodded and smiled. Then, all of them entered the Great Hall. Lyssie opened her mouth when she saw the décor. The Great Hall looked amazing every day, with its starry ceiling and elegant cover on the tables, but now she could tell that the teachers put a lot of work into decorating it. The room looked like a winter paradise. Everything was white and light blue. Wherever she looked, she saw various ice sculptures, some presenting people and some in the shapes of magical creatures they learnt about. Perfect snowflakes were falling from the sky, but when they touched Lyssie's skin, she realized that the felt warm and immediately disappeared.
