A Flicker of Redemption

Chapter 35

"It was fun watching you tonight." He suddenly stated as they were curled up together.

"Oh?"

"I like seeing you interacting with my brothers and having a good time. Chibs really had you laughing at some of his stories." Happy commented.

"He's pretty funny." She conceded making him smile and kiss her forehead.

"I hope you'll really start to get to know the rest of them. They're not so bad once you do." He rubbed her back gently.

She was tracing some of his chest tattoos with her finger when she looked up at him.

"You know I still have trust issues."

"I didn't say you had to open up and tell them your life story. Just get to know them. Let them tell you about themselves. Tig's a total pervert but he's loyal and funny. Quinn is really funny, loyal, and someone I trust with my life. I mean, I trust all my brothers but Quinn and I are really close." He explained, "Juice isn't the brightest crayon in the box but the kid's a whiz with computers. Bobby's one of the most level-headed guys here and is loyal to the club and not strictly to one particular individual. Jax can be a bit of a hot head but he just wants to protect his family and his club."

"I see."

"Get to know them. Let us be the family you should have had." He stated.

"It's hard for me. It started when I was a child..." She started out, "I tried telling teachers when I was young but no one ever believed me that my parents were being mean and doing the things I told them they were doing. They thought I was just a spoiled kid being mad at her parents, ya know? (He nodded for her to continue) It's hard to trust people when it's been proven over and over that people can't be trusted."

"I know, l know little girl. But have Chibs or I proven we can't be trusted?" He asked.

"Well...no." She started out.

"Then put a little faith in us that we're trustworthy." He kissed her forehead, "I'm exhausted. Let's get some sleep, ok?"

"Mmmkay." She yawned.

When she woke up the next morning, she was alone in bed. He wasn't in the shower so she quickly got dressed and headed out to find some coffee. People were passed out everywhere in all states of undress making her shake her head at them as she made her way to the kitchen. Coffee had already been made to her relief so she poured herself a cup then walked outside where she found Happy sitting on the picnic table smoking a joint and having his coffee. He just nodded at her making her nod back in greeting. They sat there in silence waiting for people to start waking up. Gemma arrived with muffins and donuts for everyone so Angelika helped her get the two containers inside the clubhouse while Happy sat there finishing his joint.

"Looks like you had a fun evening." Gemma noted the hickeys on Angelika's neck.

"Always." Angelika smirked making Gemma laugh as she opened up the container of donuts.

"So. Things going well between you and Happy?" The older woman asked.

"Yeah." Angelika replied.

"Good, baby. That's good. Grab you something to eat before the boys wake up and devour everything." Gemma told her.

Angelika grabbed a banana nut muffin and walked back outside to sit with her 'ol man. Chibs eventually found his way outside with a cup of coffee and a donut. She greeted him with a smile earning one back as he munched on his breakfast. Being Saturday, the shop would be opening and the bikers would need to head to work. Jax had gotten word that there was a meth lab that had popped up in Charming so he wanted to check it out with Chibs and Happy. When the blond biker arrived and noticed both men sitting out on the picnic table with Angelika, he walked over to tell them what he'd heard and that he wanted to check it out with them. Both nodded in agreement.
