I sat there for a moment, shocked, confused, and frightened. It spared me and it didn't want to kill me. It could have killed me and as Stiles had said, it could have torn me to pieces. But it didn't. Why? That was a good question. Maybe it didn't feel like killing me, maybe it got tired, or maybe it pitied me? It looked like he saw something in me.

It wasn't until Scott began to stand and the light reflected onto his face. He had sideburns, sharp claws, and teeth. He had shifted and his eyes glowed yellow.

"Scott?"

He said nothing and started walking away. I sensed he was angry not because I felt it, but because he was breathing heavily and his expression literally told people "don't get me pissed."

We got to the door and he stood in front of it, not doing anything. I tried moving him to the side to unlock the door, but he didn't budge. And then, suddenly, he just ran away. Then, there was silence on my end and I heard the sirens.

Quickly, I unlocked the door and the four heads turned to me.

"Where's Scott?" Allison asked, walking towards me.

"He, uh, we heard the sirens so he went to get them," I answered. "He's making sure they know where we are, what happened."

"Come on," Stiles said and picked Lucas up.

We all got outside, greeting the cops. Scott was already there and thank goodness because then my story would have turned out false.

"What the freaking hell, Lucy?" Olivia walked up to me as I parted from the paramedics.

"What took you so long?" I asked. "I told Alex to call you like an hour ago."

"Lucy Moore, this is the last straw," she warned angrily. "If you keep finding yourselves in these situations, I swear to- "

"I don't find myself in these situations," I defended. "It finds me."

She crossed her arms. "Lucy, what is up with you? One: I told you about curfew. Two: you break into the school?"

"Lucas and I were going on a date," I explained. "But Allison got a text from Scott saying to go to the school, but it wasn't from Scott, it was from Derek or something, who wanted to kill Scott and us."

"You're lucky it's not me who wants to kill you," she remarked. She sighed, brushing back her hair. "So what happened to Lucas?"

"He got scratched, but we couldn't see what it was," I replied. "Might have been Derek who snuck up on us. We got away before anything else happened."

"I swear, you're always around those kids when bad things happen," she said, looking past me, then to the road where Allison was. "You're not keeping anything from me, are you?"

"Nope," I said confidently to hide my lie.

"Yeah, you see," she began. "That's when I tell you're lying. You try too hard to not lie and that's when I can tell."

"Is now a good time to tell you I got a C in chemistry?" I chuckled. She raised her eyebrow. She believed I received a bad grade but knew there was something else.
