The team had never seen him so angry. They had never seen him angry at all though, his normal calm expression had been shed and his eyes were burning with fury and hatred. What had his parents done?
"You can't just come home one day and take your pick of the litter so you can just sell them away! River isn't an object that you can just give away! She's a human being, alive and breathing! She's not an object you can just purchase or pay for!" Everyone but his parents were astonished. They held their gaze on him, but for once, he didn't wither away under it. Instead, he met it was his own fire. "River is our child and she belongs to us! We spent money raising her so she belongs to us-"
"YOU DIDN'T EVEN RAISE HER!" Jasper shouted while throwing his arms up. His parents snarled,
"Well-"
"Don't even try. You don't have anything you can argue back with. I raised her. I taught her. I quit my career in Volleyball for her. I got a job for her. I learned how to fight for her. I pay for her food. I pay for her schooling. I DID EVERYTHING FOR HER! WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?!" Jasper shouted and pointed at him, tears rolled down his face. His mother regained her composure, "Stop crying, men don't cry. Besides, I am your mother, as I am hers, and-" Jasper cut her off with a dry laugh.
"You stopped being our mother, the moment River was born." He looked up at them, " don't need you. I haven't needed you since I was 10, River hasn't needed you her whole life." He snarled as the tears kept rolling, but the part that sent shivers down their spines was the fact that he was still smiling with a look of determination on his face. "And someone once told me, It's okay to cry. I know that now. I know that I'm not alone anymore. So you can take your fake apology and shove it up your ass because the moment I turn 18, I will battle for her, and I will make sure you lose every penny that you've earned. I will make sure you fail, whether it takes two years or my whole life." He then pointed at them,
"AND THAT'S A DAMN PROMISE!"
The team couldn't believe what they had just heard. All was silent except for Jasper's soft sobbing and sniffing. That was until the rustling of grass could be heard, "Ma'am. I'm going to ask you to leave before we all lose our patience."
Jasper gasped and looked over his shoulder at Tsukishima. He was still holding River who was now awake, shock was written on her face. Tsukishima stared at them with the same expression as when he found out Yamaguchi was cheating on him.
A silent rage.
Yamaguchi walked forward, "Your son is the kindest person I have ever met and he deserves better, I realize that now. I've been so unkind to him, and yet he still showed me kindness. I'm sorry Hunter-san, I really am." He turned to Jasper with a sad smile. Something in Tsukishima's chest felt lighter at the thought of his Ex-Best friend getting along with his crush. In a way, he forgave Yamaguchi. If it weren't for Yamaguchi, he never would have discovered how much he cared for Jasper.
Jasper smiled at him forgivingly. "Yeah, so screw off and go home you old geezers" Everyone stared at Hinata in surprise only to leap away from him. He had that scary far away expression on his face. For some odd reason, it made Jasper happy.
