Katie's P.O.V - Boston . 03:22 PM
I walked into the antiques store, with Joe, Billie and Stevie.
I've been back in Boston for two days now, taking in my last day off, before we hit the studio tomorrow to write this album.
Stevie and Sherrie talk all the time. They're not official, but he's certainly taken, as far as we're all concerned.Stevie stuck by my side, embracing just having a family day. Me and Billie used to come in here often. They've got some really neat things.
We walked to the back, wanting to make our way to the front, browsing the shelves.
There were fine China, money boxes, books, chairs, vinyl records, that Joe was browsing through, and then...
"No way..." I walked up to an old brown fabricated rocking horse. "Dude, I used to have one of these! It was at my dads house." I crouched down next to it, holding the left side handle, rocking it gently.
"I'd ride it while dad made dinner..." I could feel it in my heart, the way I felt back then.
"I nev'r 'ad one." Stevie smiled, looking at it.
"Man, I'd do anything to get back to the rocking horse." I smiled, watching it rock, remembering my dad. I'd do anything to hear his voice again...
"I'd sen' ya back, if I cou'd." Stevie sighed.
"Man, all the kings horse, and all the kings men, ain't got a hope in hell of sending me-" I stopped, looking up at Stevie.
"Wha?" He asked me.
"Wanna write a song?" I stood up, smiling at him, standing on the other side of the horse.
"Abou' wha?" He asked me.
"Getting back to the rocking horse! Don't you remember the good old days, when nothing else matter, but your favourite toy?" I asked him.
"Well, y'ah... So, back t' tha rocking horse?" He asked me.
"Back To The Rocking Horse." I nodded at him.. . .
"You see, I can't sleep all night long
Tossin' and a-turnin'
Thoughts they keep a-churnin'
I can't sleep all night long
As a matter of fact
I just want to get get get get get backBack to the rockin' horse
Back to where it all began
Take me back, back to the rockin' horse
And start all over again, get back!"
Me and Stevie belted out, sat on the couch.Eddie and Dylan were sat at the soundboard, and Gov was stood leaning on the back wall, opposite the door.
"It's brilliant." Eddie was the first to speak. "I love it."
"Yeah... What about instrumentals?" Dylan asked us.
"Well, we're still messin' aroun' wi'h all thah." Stevie told him, looking from me to him.
"OK... Can I make a suggestion?" Gov asked us.
"What's up?" I asked him.
"I love it, I do. It's great. It's a classic from you two, but the chorus is a bit plain. Vinnie will be singing it, but maybe, Eddie and Monroe, you two grab the 'back to the rockin' horse' lines, and Dylan and Stevie, or maybe even just Stevie, if you don't' want to, Dylan, have something under it, a bit like 'Fallen Angel', where you hold the note." He suggested.
"Hmm... I hear what your saying, but how would it go down?" I couldn't envision it.
"Try it-" Gov was cut off by Vinnie storming in.
"She broke up with me!". . .
"So, you told her?" Eddie asked him, all of us sat in the recording booth, sat cross legged in a circle, just us five.
"Yeah... I had to... I love her. I really do, but everything was just hitting me..." He frowned, sat on Eddie's left.
"Look, it's out of the bag now. It's goin' to be OK, Vinnie." Dylan was sat on his left, with me of his left, and Stevie on my left.
"Is this y'r first break up?" Stevie asked our singer.
He nodded. "And I'm the one who cheated..." He whispered, looking down, picking at his finger nails."Vince, it's not easy, but you need to just grow from this. All break ups are hard. Really. You just need to take some time, and maybe try talking to her in a day or two." Dylan suggested.
"No, it's over... Apparently, her being clingy to me, was because she kissed some guy... It's complicated." Vinnie shook his head.
Eddie put a hand on his back, showing support.
"So, she's already moved on?" I asked confused.
"I think so, yeah!" Vinnie glanced at me. "I told her, she broke up with me, I decided to come down here a day early, and apparently she's been sighted with the guy she told me she ended up kissing..."
"Hold up! She didn't' know you cheated, as soon as she finds out, she tells you she kissed a guy. Either way! She kissed a guy, got all clingy with you, and refused to tell you! What made you confess?" Dylan asked, looking at our new friend.
"She was all clingy and it was making me uncomfortable." Vinnie looked up at Dylan.
"So, her being clingy was her feeling guilty... Vince, you cheated, yes, but your not completely in the wrong. She kissed a guy, was refusing to tell you, trying to act natural, but tried so hard, it made you uncomfortable, so you confessed, leading to her to confess..." Dylan lay it all out.
Vince went silent. He knew Dylan was right."So, I'm still the bad guy, but not the villain?" Vince asked us all.
"Well, yeah... With the way she was acting towards me, then saying all that shit about needing to know your every move..." I pointed out.
"Y'ah, and she jus' got pissy eve'y time we forgoh her name..." Stevie added.
"Yeah, she didn't care for your new friends, she just... Like she wanted the credit for you." Eddie finished.
"Vinnie... There's a thorn in every rose bush..." Dylan frowned.
"Yeah... I know that now." Vince lay back, looking up at the ceiling. "Thanks, guys..."
"Hey, we're friends, man. We've got your back!" I smiled at him.
He gave a huff of a laugh, with a small smile on his face. "Every rose has its thorn..." He sung out.
"Just like every night has its dawn..." I spoke softly to him.
"Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song." Dylan sung out, in the same melody as Vinnie.
"Yeah, it does..." Vinnie sighed.
