*** Quinn's POV ***

And just like that, I was in a relationship. I tried to keep from overwhelming her, but hell it was hard. I wanted her every minute of the day. After our weekend adventure, we kept things pretty tame, heading to brunch and going our separate ways by mid-afternoon. But we texted every night. Sometimes racy, mostly just checking in.

My mom was off on Wednesday night and asked her to come by. The conundrum of traveling at night was evaded because I went out and bought myself a bike, first thing on Monday. I just hadn't told her yet.

Joyce: Your mom wants me over tonight. I don't know how to explain my issue to her.

Quinn: No need. I can give you a ride.

Joyce: Please don't call Dre again.

Quinn: Don't have to.

Joyce: Quinn. What did you do?

I sent her a picture and waited. And waited. And started to sweat when she hadn't replied.

Quinn: Joy?

My phone rang and I answered quickly. "Joy?"

"I can be but you gotta warm me up first." Cynthia purred on the other end.

"Oh hey. Sorry. I was just expecting er...CJ." I caught myself.

"But you call her Joy? That's precious. How long has this been going on, Quinn?" She inquired.

"Honestly not long." I confessed.

"Hmm. Is the sex good?"

"It's not like that, Cynthia. She has a past." I corrected her assumption.

"And she obviously knows what you do. Interesting. You two should come over and have dinner with me and Val." She suggested.

"We could do that sometime in the future, sure." I replied, a bit hesitant.

"It might be good for her to hear how we make things work without jealousy or hurt feelings." She revealed exactly what I expected she had in mind.

"I don't know if I plan on continuing to headline." I admitted.

"Whoa, Quinn! Slow down." She chuckled patronizingly.

"I've already talked to some of the corporate folks at Gratifica. We're discussing options for directing and some brand coaching stuff." I hurriedly explained.

"Wow. Look at you making your own pathway." She said. I couldn't tell if she was teasing me or something else.

Time to flatter her. "I wouldn't even be in a position to make these suggestions if it wasn't for you, Cyn."

"Bring your girl by on Saturday, we'll take Val's boss's yacht. He's been begging us to take it out. Val thinks he wants to brag that a pornstar was on his yacht. I think he wants to sell it to us." Cynthia shared the backstory.

"I'll talk to her. I know we're helping my mom out that morning." I indicated, nearly instantaneously regretting it.

"Wow, okay. She has met your mom? How exactly did you meet this girl, Quinn?" Cynthia asked.

I heard a beep. My other line! "Uh Cynthia, I gotta take this."

"Yeah, yeah. Saturday or Sunday, Quinn. Let me know." She hung up and I clicked over.
