You Had Me At "Stop Peeing On My Yard!"

Part 13

Sterling picked me up by my arm tightly. I struggled against him trying to push him away.

"Let...go...of...me." I choked out as he crushed me to his chest.

"Now why would I do that?" He smirked down at me.

"Because Tom will kill you if you lay a hand on me!"

"Do you see him anywhere?" He questioned, holding on to my hands with one of his the other hand trailed to my bottom, squeezing it. I growled.

"Don't touch me." I bared my teeth to him.

"I can touch you if I want to. Now shut up." He painfully crushed his lips to mine. I attempted to push him away. I even tried to turn my head, only encouraging him to kiss down my neck.

"HELP! HELP!" I screamed. Sterling slapped his large hand over my mouth. I bit down on his hand but he slapped me. Then went to go sniff at my neck. He pulled my shirt away from my collarbone exposing my crescent moon.

"You wear his mark but he hasn't fully mated you yet." He stroked my neck, thoughtfully. Sterling continued to run his hand along my curves, I snarling with each touch.

"Sterling."

"Yes, love?" He raised his head to look at my face. I slammed my head with his. I was slightly dizzy but he was out like a light. I dug into his pockets and found some keys. All of them were too big for the shackle on my ankle. I saw something gleaming around his neck.

The key!

He looked like he was going to wake up anytime soon, I saw Sterling had an ugly bump on his forehead. I'll probably have one too soon. My heart pounded harder in my chest as I pulled the key off his neck and replaced it with one from his pocket. I unlocked the shackle and ran out of the basement.

Once I was outside I shifted, not caring who saw. Just wanted to put Sterling as far away from me as possible.

"Raina! Get back here!" Sterling yelled; stumbling out the door and clutching forehead. I ran faster but Sterling pulled out a rifle and pulled the trigger.

He shot at my hind legs but missed several times. Sterling finally hit my left side, blood spurted onto my white fur. I howled in pain but continued to run away. I felt Sterling shift behind me but he was beginning to catch up to me. My side burns and my muscles ache from straining them so hard.

"Tom! Tom! Tom!" I yelled into our mind link, praying he heard me.

"Raina? Babe! Can you hear me?" Tom answered.

"Tom, help. I've been shot. Sterling is chasing me but I don't think I can run anymore." I felt my run was slowing down.

"Don't stop running, Raina. I'm coming for you, baby. Hold on baby."

Sterling was about 20 feet behind me.

"Tom, he's gonna catch up. I can't run anymore."

I stopped run from the pain in my side and fell over onto the side that didn't have the wound. Sterling loomed over me but the edges were blurry. I saw him shift to his human form.

"Shift." He commanded.

I did as I was told even though it caused me pain to do so. Laying on the earthly floor, I cried. I wanted to be dead. Heck, I felt myself dying.

"Raina!" That sounded like Tom. I must be hallucinating. Tom wasn't here. Tom wouldn't find me.

I felt Sterling pick me up from the ground. I tried to push him away but I was too weak.

All I felt was myself fall to the ground before things went dark.

*Tom's POV*

"Tom, he's gonna catch up. I can't run anymore."

No,she can't stop running he'll catch up with her.

I had woken up and didn't feel Raina near me. She wasn't around the house, so I thought maybe she went to her house. I followed her scent for hours until it came to a house in the middle of no where. I was able to feel her close by so I tried our mind link.

"Tom! Tom! Tom!" I heard her panicked voice.

"Raina? Babe! Can you hear me?"

"Tom, help. I've been shot. Sterling is chasing me but I don't think I can run anymore." She wanted to give up.

"Don't stop running, Raina. I'm coming for you, baby. Hold on baby."

I saw her being chased by Sterling. She stopped running and laid on her side. Sterling shifted to his human form and barked at her to shift. She did as she was told. Raina huddled in a ball and cried.

"Raina!" I yelled before I shifted. Running towards Sterling where he was holding my mate. I knocked him down but also dropped Raina to the ground as well.

I pawed at Sterling. I made him suffer for everything he did to my mate. I made him pay. Never again would he hurt her.

Turning to where Raina lay motionless, I shifted and picked her up. She was pale and her wound spurted out dark blood. I ran to the front of the house where Sterling's car awaited. I put Raina in the back while I hot-wired the car. It turned on and I drove like a bat out of hell.

I prayed that Raina would be okay.

At the nearest hospital, I ran in with Raina in my arms.

"Help! Help! She's been shot." Doctors and nurses ran to me and took her away. A nurse lead me to a room.

"Sir, I need you to come down before you go into shock." The nurse handed me a pair of scrubs to put on and some water.

"Will she be okai?"

"The doctors will do everything they can."

"I need to know." I growled at her.

"Sir, please."

"Do you have a phone I could use?" I needed to call the Alpha.

"Yes there is one on the wall, press 9 first. If there is anything you need, I'll be in the nurses station."

I punched the numbers in, waiting for someone to pick up. Once he did, I told him what has happened in the last few hours. The Alpha said he'd be at the hospital in a bit. I sighed and went to see what was happening with Raina. I was told she was in recovery.

I sat next to her bed and held her hand. She was deathly pale and cold.

"Raina, come on baby. Wake up." I shook her hand lightly.

Nothing.

"Princess, please don't leave me."

Nothing.

I kissed her cold little hand and waited for my princess to wake up from her slumber.
