Thomas' P.O.V

My hands began to shake as my heart pumped with adrenaline. My eyes grew wider as the creature approached where I was standing.

I prayed I would never see this horrible creature again, especially after the events in the maze.

Whenever a griever was near, nothing seemed to go right, and nothing but chaos came with it.

I remember the time I ran into the maze to help Minho and Alby. I remember the sounds of the griever trotting down different paths in the maze. It was a sound I never wanted to hear again.

The grievers spikes and rods pushed out it's mechanical skin and it rolled towards us.

"RUN!" I shouted hoping everybody would follow.

If people weren't already outside and noticed what happened, they had now.

When I looked in the distance to our house, pure terror was on Brenda's face. I had to get over there.

"Brenda!" I screamed as loud as I could.

She turned and she seemed relieved as she ran towards me. We weren't on the greatest terms but I still had to help her.

I held my arms opened and she flew into them.

"What's going on?" She asked worriedly.

"There's no time for explanations, we have to go. Now." I warned.

I grabbed her and and we broke out into our fastest sprints. While we were running, I looked back and saw a middle-aged man being pulled open by the griever. The terrible sight reminded me of Alby's death back in the maze.

Alby died to help us get WICKED and we failed him. Unfortunately, his death was in vain.

When I turned back around, I saw that Minho found a cave that he was guiding people into.

"Come on!" He yelled as the veins popped out of his head. His face was glowing red and it showed he had been screaming for a while.

Brenda and I finally came to a halt when we ran into the cave. There were children of all ages, adults of all ages and all of them had terrified expressions.

These people don't even know what that was, let alone, how to get rid of it.

It was a few minutes before the Griever found the cave and attempted to get in. This was impossible since the opening was too small, it could barely fit me in.

The griever was outside the cave and it was making it's disgusting and creepy clicking sounds, causing children to scream, and babies to cry. Everything was in pure chaos, and we had to stop it.

"Okay everybody settle down and listen up." I pleaded.

The griever must have went back from where it came from after a while, because there were no sounds it was still out there.

"That thing we saw was called a griever. They're vicious creatures that WICKED created and put in the maze some of us were in." I informed everybody.

"What did it want!" Somebody broke in.

"I'm not sure, but it clearly intended to hurt us." I said calmly before Minho broke in.

"Everybody needs to stay calm because we are going in survival mode."

I wonder what survival mode means🌚
