Chapter 20
(This is actually from first hand experience a couple of weeks ago and i tried to explain it as best as i could....but not all of it just how i acted a bit after (but not the driver) and what the driver (my brother) was screaming at me in the car after the accident. But not all of the injuries are real except the chest pains and whiplash)
==============------------------=============
I tried to breath...my chest felt constricted. The pain was unbearable. It was impossible. My head was pushed back against the headrest on the seat, I couldn't move. I moved my hand sluggishly to try and remove the seat belt around me that had saved my life as it was digging into my neck and it seemed to be stopping me even futher from breathing. I needed space.
My eyes fluttered open just as I managed to struggle to take in a shallow breath of air into my deprived, crushed lungs. There was smoke coming out from the engine, the black kind you would see if something was burning, you could smell it in the air along with the shock that tinged the air and the shock of the people.
"Hailey! Hailey! Are you ok?!" Chris' voice shouted from beside me, it sounded further away though. I managed to nod my head weakly as I took in some more laboured breaths. But Chris didn't see my nod as he continued to shout and I opened my mouth to tell him I was ok, just in pain a bit.
But that wasn't what came out of my dry mouth. Instead of the reassuring words I had wanted to say, hysteric screams made their up my throat and out my mouth. Once they started they wouldn't stop. I couldn't stop.
"Hailey!" Chris yelled, desperate."Are you ok?"
More hysterics made their way out as I tried to nod my head, tears leaked out of my eyes. Chris pulled at my legs to see if they had been trapped by the car when it had been crushed at the front, then noticing that, that wasn't the problem, started shouting at the man standing by his door to move so he could get out.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!" I screamed shaking my head as the hysterics kept coming.
The door opened letting in fresh air and a woman with a bright pink jumper helped me out of the care gently, in case of any bad injuries. As I stepped, shakily, out I also noticed that there was already someone on the road directing the traffic around the accident.
The woman wrapped her arms around me in a motherly type of hug trying to calm me down, which helped but right now....I had to see Chris.
"Chris...where's Chris?" I hiccuped. Someone pulled me out of her arms and that' when I recognised their arms.
Chris wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into him resting . his chin on the top of my head. I stood there and inhaled Chris' scent as I stared at the ruined front of my car, it had crumpled until it had almost reached the front. And the other car had a slight crushed look to it at the side but not as much damage as it wasn't moving but we were.
Pain built up in my chest as I heard the demanding sirens of the police and ambulance on their way. The pain built its way from my chest and around my body, my usually 20:20 vision started to blur around the edges and the sounds around me grew fainter and further away. My breathing grew laboured and shallow as I struggled to fill my lungs with oxygen.
White spots danced around in my vision until the darkness pulled me in just as the paramedics pulled up . The last thing I saw was the bright lights of the ambulance and hearing Chris shouting at me to stay awake.
A sharp pain jolted up my spine once more and I was pulled under.
