The door nearly fell off of its hinges as I opened it. My face twisted in confusion as I pulled out my flashlight and turned it on.

"What the f..." my voice trailed off as the light ran over the inside of the house. The place was trashed, with furniture carelessly strewn across the room. I quickly walked in, Lillie walking in behind me with her own flashlight.

"What happened?" She asked, staring around the wreckage.

I walked slowly over to the kitchen, finding the cupboards wide open, with nearly nothing left. "Someone raided the house," I concluded.

Lillie looked over to me incredulously. "What is this, a zombie apocalypse movie?"

I nodded my head towards the shattered window. "Look outside."

"Fair enough."

A sound came from my room, and both Lillie and I snapped our heads toward the door. We silently glanced towards each other, pulling out Pokéballs. The two of us slowly crept over to the ajar door, hearing more shuffling from within the room.

With a quiet breath, I kicked the door open to find a man in a black hoodie and jeans rummaging through my stuff. He jumped at the sudden noise, yelling out several curses. He looked me up and down, backing up to the wall.

"You're the champion," He said simply.

"Yes... What are you doing in my house?" I replied slowly, still holding up Lycanroc's Pokéball.

"Oh, this is your house?" The man replied in disbelief. "I didn't realize-"

"Answer my question."

"I um-" The man stuttered. "Well, it was already a mess before I came in. I was just seeing if there was anything left?"

"So the light goes out and peoples' immediate reaction is to start breaking into houses?" Lillie asked, shaking her head in disbelief.

"Oh, nah, just a few. The Kahuna's been dealing with 'em but they're all over the island. Actually..." he said. "There's a couple of them holding people hostage over in Iki town."

"Why should we believe you?" I asked him.

"Why shouldn't you believe me?" Lillie and I stared at him, and he continued. "Ok, I know I'm stealing from you and I may be using it as an excuse for you to let me off, but it's true, I swear!"

"Get out of my house," I said.

"Yes, sir." He quickly ran out of the door, towards the city.

"We should check out the town," Lillie said.

I looked around the house, shrugging my shoulders. "Yeah. Not much we can do here."

We ran towards Iki town, our feet ripping through the grass, frightened Pokémon skittering away from us.

We got up the stares to find the town lit by a bonfire in the middle of the houses. The residents sat in the middle of the battlefield, surrounded by a couple of thugs and Pokémon.

On of the thugs, the leader, I assumed, sat on the steps to one of the houses next to a hostage. While it was hard to make out, I could tell the hostage was my mom.

The leader stood up, tossing a Pokéball up and down. "Well well well, if it isn't the champion."

I stood silently, my grip tightening on Kommo-o's Pokéball.

The leader ran a hand through his black hair, a crazy look in his eye. "You have no idea how ecstatic I was when I learned that I had the champion's mother at my mercy. I was just planning to ransom off these people to that old fart of a Kahuna, but this is much better."
