Lillie and I made our way to Ten Carat Hill, recounting memories from our adventures three years ago. When we got to our destination, I summoned Tauros to destroy some rocks blocking our way in, presumably left by Pokémon. Lillie had shown no hesitation walking through the grass, and had even caught a Wingull.
I stepped to the side and said, "Ladies first."

Lillie smiled. "Thank you," she said, walking through the passage. I followed in after her.

Lillie scanned her surroundings as if she had never seen them.

"Wow. I've been here a few times before, but it's still just... stunning," she said.

"Yeah, it's really peaceful. It's a good place for me to just get away from all the craziness of being Champion," I said.

"I'd imagine it gets stressful after three years," Lillie said.

"Well, I also help out around the region on my free time. I guess I just feel obligated. I mean, strongest trainer in the region and everything."

"What else have you done since I left?" Lillie asked.

"Well, I caught the rest of the Tapus, trained them and improved their move sets, before releasing them back to their islands. I helped a detective agency clean up some Ultra Beasts that had wandered into our dimension. I went to the Battle Tree and met some famous trainers from other regions. Gladion gave me one of the other two Type: Nulls for my birthday, and after training it, it grew to like me and evolved. Other than that, not much. How about you?"

"When I got to Kanto, I already had a Cutiefly. I met with Professor Oak, and he gave me a Bulbasaur. Then I got started challenging gyms, catching Pokémon, and evolving them. I got through Victory Road, and beat the Elite Four before losing to Red. That's pretty much everything I've done besides helping Bill cure my mother."

I smiled. I felt so happy to just talk to her again.

"What's with the look?" Lillie asked.

I shrugged. "It's just... you've changed."

Lillie looked concerned. "Is that a bad thing?"

"No, not at all. You're still you, you're just a lot more confident. And it's strange to see that."

Lillie rolled her eyes, "Just because I'm not helpless doesn't mean I'm a different person."

I laughed. "Hey! Don't put words in my mouth!"

Lillie giggled. "Come on," she said, heading towards the left cliff. When we got to the top, Lillie sat down and dangled her legs off the edge. I sat next to her.

"This is the same place we sat the day before you left, isn't it?" I asked.

Lillie looked around. "Yeah..." Her smile dropped. "Yeah, it is..."

"Something wrong?" I asked.

"I... I'm sorry I never told you about my plan to leave. It was a... naive choice. Seeing you and Hau so destroyed... that stayed with me the entire time," she said.

"It's fine, Lillie. I understand," I said.

I broke the ensuing awkward silence with, "You want to go down to Hau'oli city?"

"Sure. How about we do a bit of shopping?" Lillie suggested.

"Sure."

After about an hour of shopping, Lillie an I decided to get a bite to eat at the malasada shop.

"I find it funny this is my first time trying these. You know, cause I've lived right next to this shop for three years," I said.

"Well, you're going to be pleasantly surprised," Lillie said.

We got our malasadas, and I took a bite.

"I can see why Hau is so addicted to these," I said. Lillie laughed.

"Yeah, they are pretty good."

"Hey Rotom, what time is it?" I asked.

Rotom zipped out of my bag, hovering in front of me.

"Itzz 4:00 currently!"

"Oh hey, I forgot you had a Rotom Dex."

Rotom spun around. "Why hello there Lillie! Welcome back to Alola! Bzzz."

"Nice to see you too."

Rotom looked between me and Lillie and said, "Oh, I zzee whatzz going on."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Zzorry to interrupt your date.'

"Wh-what?! No, we're not on a date!" I once again felt my face heat up.

Thankfully, I wasn't alone this time. Lillie, also stammering and blushing, said, "Y-yeah, you got the wrong idea!"

"Yeah, right. Bzzz," And with that, Rotom zipped back into my bag.

We were both quiet for a second.

"Well, umm, you want to go to Akala now? There's not much more to see here, " I said.

"Y-yeah, sure."

*****
It feels good to write again! I haven't posted  chapter of anything in like two months. I'm sorry about that. I'll hopefully be posting a lot more in the coming weeks.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you in the next one!

Edit: deleted a section of the author's note that isn't relevant anymore.

Edit jr: changed a bit of dialogue to reflect the events of the Lillie arc I'm writing right now.

Peace.
