3rd Person POV

Jamie was through to the final, but at what cost? He'd given up his Hawkstone career for a game he probably couldn't even win. Worst of all, he'd had an argument with Mike so now he had no way of getting to London for the final.

Duncan had asked to see Perrie. After their meeting about her and Ruby's fight, Perrie had thought that they weren't exactly on good terms, but as she walked up the stairs to his office, she sensed a calmer atmosphere than that time of her being rid of her captaincy.

"Ah, Perrie, come in, take a seat." Duncan said, still tapping furiously away on his computer.

She took a seat opposite the desk, crossing her legs, still having no idea what this was about.

"I don't know if you've heard, but I've offered to sign Dillon for Northport." Duncan said, finally removing his gaze from the screen.

"Are you serious?" She replied in surprise: Dillon now had three offers to big clubs in the area, and she felt a twinge of sympathy for Jamie who had none, thanks to her.

"Yeah, and he also told me that you had no plans whatsoever for when you leave school and Phoenix."

"Yeahhh?" She replied, still not anticipating what he was going to say.

"Next season, I want you to help set up a Northport Rovers Women's team."

She leaned forward in disbelief. "But...why?"

"Well, with Zoe and Kat signing for Hawkstone, you're the last good girl player and I really feel this club is going places, Perrie."

Perrie opened her mouth, but no words came out. All her worry about life after Phoenix had been fixed in the two seconds she had been sat here.

"I'll give you some time to think about it." Duncan said, turning to his computer.

But Perrie shook her head. "I don't need time to think." She took a deep breath. "I'll do it."

The Under-16s last training session was on the same day as the FIFA final. Perrie began her warm-up of running around the pitch, and glimpsed the figure of Mike coming through the gates. She slowed down as Karen began talking to him.

"Dad? What are you doing here?"

"You really think I was going to miss the last training session with this lot?" Mike responded with a forced laugh.

"Aren't you supposed to be taking Jamie to London?" Perrie replied.

"Yeah, well, he seems to have the answers to everything else, so I'm sure he'll be fine." Mike said, and Perrie could tell there was tension between him and Jamie, maybe something had happened before Mike left for training.

An idea suddenly popped into Perrie's head.

As the minutes passed, Jamie began to get more and more nervous about how he was going to get to London. Eventually, he looked up the bus timetable, but heard a car horn outside.

Opening the door, Jamie saw two people emerge from a familiar van parked on the road outside.

"What are you two doing here?" He said, as his dad and Perrie both wandered up the front steps.

"Perrie texted, saying you needed a ride to London." Ian said.

"Mike showed up at training saying you didn't need his help getting to London, but I know you too well Jamie." She said with a smile.
