Kaelin stood still, a blind fold covering her hazel eyes.
"Focus on your senses, Kaelin." Deaton said, "Vampires are able to fight without their sight, so you should be too."
Kaelin focused as she listened to her surroundings. She heard noise from upstairs, but shut it out since she knew that it was just Deaton's daughter, Anna. Anna was not very fond of Kaelin, for she did not understand why she was here. Scott stood around as he was waiting for Kaelin to find him. He hoped that she would be able to, he wanted her to go see them as much as she did. Kaelin sighed as she turned her head at the sound of a heartbeat. She swung her fist to having it be caught my Scott. She struggled in his grip, before she pushed him off of her, ripping her blind fold off.
"Nice job. You were able to indicate his heartbeat." Deaton nodded.
"This isn't working." Kaelin sighed.
"Kaelin, don't be so hard on yourself. You have all of this power-" Scott started.
"That I don't understand." Kaelin finished, "I know. It's just, I miss them. Why are we so focused on fighting with my senses? Why are we so focused on fighting at all? I can fight. I'm a pretty good fighter. I need more control on my blood lust, and you know that's hard to admit... I need to control my compelling, my bloodlust, my speed. I don't need to control my fighting."
"Kaelin, you're not controlling how you fight. You are controlling your senses." Deaton explained, "You want to be able to sense when danger comes. You want to be able to sense an attack before it happens. You want to be able to sense their movements."
"How is that supposed to help control myself?" Kaelin asked. Kaelin wanted to gain control, so she wouldn't hurt anyone she loved, anyone she loves.
"It'll help you protect the people you care about. Learning how to control your blood lust is a really hard thing to do. That's why we're leaving it for last." Scott said.
"Okay, fine." Kaelin sighed, "But, I don't need to be babied. You guys have already shut me out from the world. I won't be able to hurt anyone."
"My daughter's here and I won't take that risk." Deaton declared.
"I'm sorry, okay?" Kaelin said, "I-I just don't know what to do now. I feel this overwhelming hunger and my emotions are literally crushing me... And you're asking me to become this- this supernatural creature. Don't mind my, uh, annoyance and my confusion to this subject."
"Kaelin, look we understand how you feel. But the only way that you will be able to see them again is if you gain control." Deaton insisted.
"Then teach me." Kaelin said, "Don't look at me like I'm a vampire that needs to be trained. I'm Kaelin. Kaelin Hale, your friend, and I need you guys to treat me like that."
"We will, and I understand that you're hungry for blood right now, but that's just another lesson for you." Scott spoke up.
"What else is next? How to train your dragon?" Kaelin asked, tone full of disbelief. "Just teach me what I need to know. Anything could be out there right now."
"If there was anything, I wouldn't be here, Kaelin." Scott said.
"All of your lessons are necessary for you to become a good vampire." Deaton said, "Now, with you not filling your thirst of blood, you have already controlled your blood lust. It's remarkable."
"Yeah, well, all I had to tell myself was I don't eat humans. That's cannibalism." Kaelin said sarcastically, "Even though it's not technically cannibalism, I would still never eat a human being, even with all my blood lust."
