Bachira's POV

The car slowly halted to a stop as I pressed the brake pedal. We had driven for a long time, so I'm sure everyone's bodies in the backseat were feeling cramped.

"This is the forest. Raichi, you better have remembered the directions. We can't get lost now of all times."

"Yeah yeah, I know. We'll be in some hot water if we do."

All of us got out of the car, following Raichi as he led the way. It was cold, everyone making quite some noise. Because it was currently fall, nearing winter, crunchy leaves fell from the trees, so it was loud when we walked. Raichi also sprayed blue spray point on trees to mark a path. I prepared myself for any incoming jump scares due to the audible noise we were making.

"See the thing is..." Raichi began. "The house is kind of deep into the forest. I would say it's a good 15 minute walk."

"15 minutes out in an open area like this is only dangerous. Should we start jogging?" Reo suggested.

"No. Wouldn't you rather want to walk into a zombie than run into one?" Aryuu said. Everyone stayed quiet after he brought up his good point.

I know it's daytime, but it feels like the sun had already gone down. The forest was just that dark and dim. I guess the leaves prevented any sunlight from getting through.

"How much longer?" Y/n asked.

"Geez it's only been 5 minutes."

"You could've just politely answered 10 more minutes."

"I don't talk polite to no one."

"Puhlease..."

"Why do you guys think there weren't much zombies at the mall?" I asked, trying to stop y/n and Raichi from arguing any further.

"My guess is that people had already suspected malls would be crowded and avoided the location, which made outcomes in the past about malls in zombie apocalypses quite ironic," Kuon answered.

"Makes sense. Good answer," Nagi said.

The rest of the walk was mostly silent, little conversation being made here and there. Half of us looked tired, others cautiously looking around and whatnot.

"We're here!!" Raichi yelled, earning multiple hushes from the others. "OK sorry..."

A big smile appeared on my face as I spotted a brick one story house in the distance. It was in an open area, much to my delight. I ran ahead of the others, and immediately tried to open the door, only to find it locked.

"Of course it's locked..."

"The key is under the rug," Raichi said. I lifted up the rug in front of the door, finding a golden key. Snickering, I plugged it in the key hole and unlocked the door.

The 11 of us entered inside to be met with darkness.

"There's no windows."

Raichi climbed up a ladder that led to the rooftop and opened a small door. "This is technically the only window. Natural sunlight is the light substituted for lamps."

"It's really spacious so we can sleep in this open area over here... And there's... Raichi... I thought you said this place would have many weapons? So why's there only one gun on the table?" Isagi asked, picking up the only shotgun in sight.

"Oh wait... Dad had taken the weapons back to his apartment to fix them! Dammit I forgot..." Raichi said. He looked up to receive the "you have to be kidding me" looks from everyone. "This is my fault."
