Chapter Fourteen: Him

Chapter 14: Him

Next period was lunch and she had less than forty minutes before her clock ran out. She couldn't be any more nervously excited.

They sat in Science class for a while before the bell dismissed them for lunch, then she walked along with her friends Chelsea, Emmalee, and Maddie, laughing all the way to the lunch room.

When they got to the lunchroom, they got their food and set down at their usual spots on their table.

She couldn't help but notice that she was in plain sight, both ways, of the new kid and could see him just sitting there, scrolling on his phone. He looked pained and looked as if he was about to cry, and she wondered what he was looking at. She soon lost interest in him though as he didn't seem to come out of his saddened mood.

After a while of the convo, Cheyenne got onto the topic of how she got grounded. Cheyenne is one of Devanne's friends and she's 15. How they came to be friends, who knows? But they had been friends for a while, as well as Raleigh, Emmalee, Maddie, and Chelsea along with them.

Cheyenne has a bad habit of blocking her mother in when she comes in from hanging out with friends after school with her car and she's been doing it a lot lately, and her mother has had enough of it, so she finally took action. Her mother took her keys, moved her car from behind hers and put it beneath the tree—the one place Cheyenne hates putting it because stuff gets all over it—then ciphered all the gas out of her car, and put the stick on it.

The stick is something that locks your pedals in place as well as your steering wheel so you can't steer. If you can't steer or use the pedals, you can't drive. Then her mother locked her keys in her car, and put a chain around her tires, locking it to the tree as tight as it could go.

Devanne says that Cheyenne's mother went a little overboard, but Cheyenne's mother was a very stern woman. So if you weren't going anywhere, you weren't going anywhere and was grounded. For example, what she did to Cheyenne's car all before Cheyenne even got up to get ready for school.

As she talked her bracelet flickered in the light.

She had already found her SM when she was thirteen, it had been her current girlfriend Paige which is seventeen.

Paige was quiet when it came to these types of conversations as she is reading a book right now but sometimes she butts in on it to say something and share an opinion as Cheyenne is loud all the time. You would think Cheyenne wears the jeans in that relationship, and she sometimes does, but when Paige is comfortable and really herself she is just as outgoing as Cheyenne is.

Paige is the calm one and Cheyenne is the fearless, dare deviled one, willing to see how far she can push you on a bad day then comfort you and be the bestest friend when you finally snap. Paige keeps Cheyenne grounded, only slipping and slacking a few times but quickly taking back ahold of the reins, and is a good friend too, but comes with a more calm approach unlike Cheyenne.

There aren't many couples in school except for Cheyenne and Paige, Winstin and Carlos, Andre and Mrs. Hackburn, and Abbey and Mr. Lynch and some of the big age gaps. The first couple are two guys, Andre is a student and Mrs. Hackburn is a teacher as well as the relationship with Abbey and Mr. Lynch, but like I said, no one judges because it could happen to anyone.

Devanne wasn't too absorbed in the conversation for when she had only twenty minutes, her demeanor changed and she fell silent but no one bugged her or even acknowledged that she had went dead to the world.
