Chapter 34: April's Valentine

April's POV

I DONT WANT TO WAKE UP. As the comforter was pulled over my head I could see sunlight trying to peek in. Go away. Cool April, just cool you are talking to little rays of sunshine.

I drag myself out of bed and slip on a pair of blue jeans on with a flower tee. Today is Valentine's day. I only like this day when I have a boyfriend, as you can see I don't have one.

I look up and down the hallway. No sign of the girls. No sign of our vampire boys. Our vampire boys? Wow im hysterical.  Anyways back to the main topic. Where are they?

     In a split second I see Scarlet walking down the hall to her History class with Zayn. Zayn? I thought she would spend her day with Raven. Confused.

Ding!Ding!Ding!

Looks like I havw a text message. Oh it's Kalver. Wonder what he wants. 

Hey April.  Here is the address to the best restaurant in town. 
456 E. Flighton St. 
See you there at 7:30

I show up at Sun Alley, the best restaurant in town. I wear my favorite maroon cute Versace lace dress and a pair of justfab Brittany wedges.  Love that site.      A worker at the restaurant asked me for a reservation I asked about Kalver Jackson.

      I was rushed immediately to Kalver.  He was sitting waiting with a dozen of white  roses. Aww he knows I don't like pink. As the waiter waited on us I look at the menu. Im having a hard time looking for something to eat. 

           What do i order on soemthing like this? A hamburger? Nachos? Steak? I could go for a steak right now. Ill be a girl for once and do the right thing.

"Can I have a italian salad please with lemon water?" I could just go to Carl's Jr. later.

"I could really go for a sirloin steak with broccoli and mash potatoes. Thank you"

We hand the menu back and have a little small talk. Honestly it was awkward.

"Ill be back I have to use the restroom " Kalver heads towards the back. 

Sign. Im sad to say this but im sooo bored and uncomfortable.  I look across from the table and see Niall. Niall with a red headed girl, I think her name is Sally.  A burning heat boils in my chest. Is this Jealousy? Me jealous? Of Niall?!!

The waiter comes back without Kalver's food and a white envelope. He hands me the envelope and strolls  to the kitchen.

Im sorry April, but I has to leave. Jace just called and said he needed help looking for Scarlet and Zayn. They are lost. He said he found another vampire scent following them so he called all of us to help. He wanted you guys out of it since we dont need other Lunas in danger. I promise I will make this up to you.

I look down at the letter. Sincerely. Not love. Not even your friend. Sigh.

"Wow you sighed pretty hard"

Looking up I matched the voice to Niall's devious face. My face expression turns defensive. I need to keep my guard up around him.  I don't answer him and look towards a waiter to call for the check. 
             

"Hey come on give me a break.  Im sorry for what happened at the carnival.  Let me make it up to you." he looks at me with a devilish stare.

I still don't answer and take the check from the waiter. $350 dollars. Not alot of money ,but still what girl pays for a restaurant on Valentine's Day? Can this day get any worse?

"Hey wait a minute let me pay for that. A girl like you shouldn't have to pay for food on Valentine's Day " I see the check get snatched from my hands.

Before I could protest Niall gives his credit card to the cash register.  I wonder how many girls he has payed for their food. Again a pain in my chest tightens. 

            He comes back.

"Come on. I said I'll make it up to you" he offers me his hand.

I casually reject it.

"What about Sally? You were just having a date with her. " I think that sounded a little jealous. 

He smirks at me with that little boy light in his eyes.

"Jealous hunny?", he sees the frown on my face," okay,okay just kidding. Turns out the reason why she had enough money to pay for this is because her boyfriend works here,so technically she didnt pay for it" he smiles at me.

Hes not sad that she had a boyfriend? And why does that make me feel like a weight just came of my heart? And why do I feel so relieved? Wait he didn't pay for her?

"How come you didn't pay for her food?" I ask curiously. 

"I never pay for girl's food. Or anything else. "

What? He just payed for me. He started to lead me out of the restaurant. 

"But you just payed for my food." im still curious and confused. 

He stops,turns,and then looks at me.

"Your not other girls" with that he takes my hand and pulls me close to his side.
