Seated at the farthest back corner of the room, Jaehyun wasn't a kid who liked introducing himself to other kids in his school. He never gave people eye contacts, or even let them touch him. After what happened, the thought of his angry mother, tightly holding his skinny arm and holding a broken bottle as she threatened her own son, never left his mind. It made him have nightmares.
The kid never deserved to be traumatized. At a young age, his aunt started to consult some therapists and psychologists for Jaehyun. She wanted Jaehyun to live a whole new life, a better one. Though, it wasn't that easy for the both of them, mostly to Jaehyun.
If only Jaehyun could give his burdens to her.
"Jaehyun, let's play! Let's play!"
A little girl came and excitedly ask led the new kid to play with her. Jaehyun, then again, was transferred to a new grade school. His aunt was working in different places so she had to bring Jaehyun along with her. The boy didn't mind about it. He was still very young anyway.
The boy looked back at the girl with a panicky expression. Jaehyun didn't say anything but ignored her. But then, kids never learned how to stop. The little girl suddenly held and pulled the young boy's forearm. In an instant, Jaehyun's nerves shook and made him to panic just from the simple touch.
Unfortunately, Jaehyun just slapped the little girl by accident.
The vision of his mother pulling him came into his mind and his instincts just twitched, resulting to his classmate crying.
"Jaehyun--"
"It wasn't my fault."
His aunt sighed, as she watched the little boy seated on the large couch while hugging his knees against himself. Jaehyun's eyes were teary. After they left the principal's office, the boy felt really bad and started blaming himself for it. His mind was a mess but his aunt tried to comfort him.
"I believe you, Jae. The principal is not going to do anything. We just have to transfer--"
Jaehyun sniffled softly, "I'm sorry, a-auntie..."
The aunt gave him a sweet smile, despite the situation. She went and knelt infront of the boy. She didn't touch him. She just catches his attention by looking straight into his eyes. Jaehyun cried quietly but has his eyes on his aunt, seeing her smile.
"I know how you feel, Jae. It's okay to cry. But I'm here, okay? I'm always here. I'll protect you. That's how much I love you, Jae, remember that."
The boy felt better just hearing that from someone, especially from someone who he really treasures. His aunt would be the only person who would be there for him, not his parent or any of his friends if ever has one. All his life, he never felt wanted but his aunt adopted and gave him everything that he needed for him to live.
Jaehyun looked back at her and saw a comforting smile. More tears ran down his cheeks before he went to wrap his small arms around his aunt's neck, hugging her and cried on her shoulder. The lady sighed in relief.
She stood and carried Jaehyun as she soothingly rubbed the little crying boy's back. She hummed a song and placed a kiss on Jaehyun's head. The boy was crying too much but it wasn't the first. He just blamed himself badly. The aunt just placed her hand on the boy's chest and softly massaged it.
"Let's get your inhaler, Jae. Let's do some breathing exercise as well," she softly uttered and went to where Jaehyun's room is.
I hope you could smile just for a second, Jae.

It's been a while since they arrived at the university and Jaehyun was so bored that he just wants to leave everyone and go to his class. The conversation between Taeyong and his aunt wasn't the most interesting things he wanted to hear. Well, it was about him, nothing so special. But his aunt was telling Taeyong about him and the boy was jotting everything down.
Jaehyun sighed. He was feeling bored, mixed with annoyance. This was unnecessary. Taeyong was unnecessary. He doesn't need a babysitter just because his aunt was going for a while. He's been living alone for a few years and he has managed himself just fine.
He doesn't get the idea of Taeyong wanting to be with him.
"Auntie," Jaehyun called, cutting out their conversation and resulted to Taeyong and his auntie's attention going on him. He didn't waste a second and told what was on his head, too straightforwardly.
"I don't need him."
Taeyong felt like he stopped breathing. He was very surprised, but at the same time, not so much. The man just already had that kind of vibe, pushing everyone away because he's scared. He wasn't hurt. He already thought about this. He looked beside him and straight at Jaehyun's eyes.
But he only received a glare from the man.
"Jaehyun, I won't be able to check on you time after time. I need someone to look after you--"
"Then why does it look like he's doing this as an everyday thing? I don't need anyone. I'm fine by myself," Jaehyun uttered coldly.
The lady sighed, "Jae--"
"Don't worry, this won't take forever. Also, I won't be with you every day. Just when your aunt is away, I'll take her place for a while."
Taeyong suddenly spoke up. His heart was beating so hard that it hurts. Jaehyun looked back at him with one eyebrow raised. Although the man was rejecting him, the boy stayed very humble and showed a good intention.
"Be nice," his aunt uttered, warning Jaehyun.
"I'll be a friend you can lean on, Jaehyun," Taeyong said and smiled genuinely at him.
The man felt confused with how the boy was still able to smile despite getting into a situation he doesn't know. He's getting involved when he shouldn't be. Though, Jaehyun stared at Taeyong's smile. He doesn't know what to feel but he denied the fact about his heart giving a hard thump.
Jaehyun didn't say anything and just walked away, leaving them. Taeyong pouted as his eyes followed the attractive guy. But he felt a hand holding his, catching his attention.
"Don't worry, he'll warm up to you when you get to understand him. Take your time. I've been in your place, Taeyong," she said with a small smile.
The boy enthusiastically nodded, "I'll do my best and report to you every day, Ms. Jung!"
She nodded, "Alright. Take care..."
Right. Here comes day one!
