(Sparrow's POV)
In all honesty, traveling was easier than I thought it would be. During the day, we traveled, and at night, we slept in bloodsucker trees that I killed. Though the rough terrain and the wild demons were bothersome, they were manageable.
The food we stole from Lambda was enough to last us for the first three days, but they went by quickly because of how large our group was. If anything was hard, it was hunting, which I picked up quickly. It gave me the opportunity to practice my aim as well, which would've had to happen eventually if I wanted to use my pistols effectively. I also tried my knives out on a yankat, which is a rabbit-like animal common in forests like the one we were traveling in. After a few days, I had dead-on aim (yes, I know I'm a badass, thank you very much). I also gathered edible wildlife which consisted of certain types of fruit, nuts, and vegetables. And getting water from the sea anemones.
The whole thing was like a school camping trip or something, though I tended to make excuses for why I couldn't go when they came up. It honestly sounded like a huge waste of time where I could've been studying.
It would've been nice if I had gone though, the experience would've been useful.
Not that I can blame myself, who would've thought I'd end up escaping an experimental facility that held beings who would eat me given the chance, and the only way to survive was to fend for myself in the wild, besides a batshit crazy teacher? (We're looking at you Watanabe-sensei)
Anyways, we made it to the Paradise Hideout after two weeks of travel, and I immediately separated from the pack after telling my five confident's to get everyone settled in while keeping in mind to conserve space for future escapees. They looked a bit curious because of that last part, but I walked away before they got a chance to ask me about it.
I immediately ran up, story after story, until I got to the top one. There were several townhouses, all in a circle surrounding a wooden path and embedded in the colony's walls. I inspected all of them and ended up settling for one with a black exterior with two stories. It had three bedrooms and two bathrooms, all of the bedrooms upstairs, and the first floor used for the kitchen, dining room, and living room. There was already furniture in there that looked brand new, like no one had ever used it, but had dust on it.
Someone probably replaced everything when it was decided to become a hideout for cattle children. How thoughtful... I mused as I looked around. It was quite cozy.
I walked upstairs and found the room that I had decided to be my bedroom. I flipped a switch and a light connected to the ceiling turned on. There was a dresser, a queen bed, a bedside table with a lamp, and a desk with another lamp. I peeled off my Lambda uniform that had gotten disgusting after weeks of travel and rifled through my dresser.
It looked like the clothes had been put in there considering the probable age of a person who would choose the top floor as their hideout, so they were ranging in sizes from an early teen to an adult, which my size, fortunately, was a part of. I ended up choosing a black crop top and jean shorts for mobility.
Then I left my room and checked the storage area below the stairs. There were all kinds of miscellaneous items in there that were all still in boxes, like a fan, blender, minifridge, and other home appliances. I rifled through it all and took out what I thought I would use, and put it where it was supposed to go.
Afterward, I looked at the gym equipment there was in there with a frown. There were only a few things, weights, resistance bands, and a punching bag. I sighed then walked out, running back down a few floors until I found Lily on the 12th floor.
