"Who are you taking with you?" Looking up from my book, I see Adam pulling his shades to the top of his head "I'm taking the person who gave me the tickets"
Shrugging my shoulder, I laugh at Adam's shocked expression. Then Kevin says something that had me sharing the same expression as Adam. "Actually Le-Le, I'm more of a football person"
"Kev! You're my ride or die!" Grabbing the jacket from my grandfather, I listen up as he tells everyone the rules for this afternoon and throw my book in the back of his SUV.
Today, the carnival is in town. And instead of having to go four different times, I somehow got everyone to agree to go today.
I swear, I am getting really good at this persuasive stuff.
"Listen, we are off duty today. If something needs to be handled, there are officers around to do that for you. Enjoy the day off, and spend it with your family, your kids, or your significant other."
Today, everyone is wearing white shoes, blue jeans, a yellow shirt, and a light great jacket. It was up to me and Eva on what we wore, and I think we all look great.
The yellow looks good on all skin tones, it really brings out some people's eyes, and others' freckles, and it makes Will Halstead's hair look amazing.
I wrap my arms with Eva and we head in the opposite direction of everyone else. That was until we were stopped by my Aunt Trudy. "And where are you two going?" Not wanting to be stuck with Trudy all day, I say that we are waiting on Gabby and Shay before we leave.
Giving us a suspicious look, she buys what we are saying and leaves with Mouch. In reality, Eva and I are trying to ditch everyone and hang out by ourselves. But, Diego is probably going to snitch if we try to leave.
All the couples went and did something, the younger kids went off with their parents, and grandpa went with Chief Boden, Donna, Sharon, Maggie, and Barry.
That left Me, Eva, and Diego with Kevin, Kim, and Adam. "Where to first kiddos?" Cringing at Adam's attempt to be 'hip', "first off Appleseed, Never say Kiddos again. We're not seven"

The carnival was going great. Everyone was having an amazing time, and it felt like one big family reunion. Elizabeth was taking a picture with her father, Kelly Severide, when I gunshot went off. Out of instinct, the Intelligence unit pulls their guns.
That was everyone but Hank Voight.
Hank saw the shooter when he raised his gun. And out of instinct, Hank jumped in front of Wallace Boden, and his wife.
Elizabeth was wrapped in Kelly's arms, but she was worried for everyone else. "I see everyone but papa. Where's Papa!" Trying to calm his daughter down, Kelly hums into her ear.
This was the worst time to leave Blue-Jay at home.
When Jay makes it across the carnival, he sees the paramedics working on his Sargent. Wallace Boden is trying to keep Voight talking, and so far it's working. "W-Wallace, make sure Elizabeth is always safe...S-She goes to Trudy"
Shaking his head, Wallace Boden tries not to break down himself. "Don't you say that Voight, you're going to be here for that little girl. She needs her Papa. You're all she needs. You're her home."
"Let her know, I-I-I love her." Hank tries not to sob, but he feels that his life is slipping away. As he is rolled onto the ambulance, Erin tells Kelly what's going on, before Kevin and her hop in the back.
