The embassy was hit by rockets, which engulfed it in flames.
Nick woke up dazed as he saw his mom knocked out with a scar on her cheek.
He also noticed that multiple shards of glass were stuck in his chest
As he slowly plucked them from his chest, blood evaporated from his hands.
Thanks to Emperor Varix's experiments on Nick, he was able to heal from the debris.
"Well, I ought to thank Varix for that one," he said to himself.
Grabbing Queen Venora and hoisted her upon his shoulder, Nick carried her through the burnt room of the embassy.
Nick kicked the door open, sending embers through the room.
Dozens of patrons ran out of their rooms, screaming with fear as gunfire ensued from both above and below.
A couple of embassy guards reached Nick, who was still carrying Queen Venora.
They had placed Queen Venora down onto the floor to examine her wounds.
"How is she?" Nick asked one of the guards.
One of the guards scanned Queen Venora's body, looking at the damage done to her.
Upon retrieving the final result, the face of the guard had answered it all.
"What can we do to heal her?" another guard asked.
Nick looked confused as to why the guard asked him of all people.
"Why the hell are you asking me?" he asked all of them.
A young embassy guard walked up to him.
"Sir, the Queen told us that in the event of her being out of action, the role of leadership falls to her bloodline, and since you are her only son, the title of King is now yours," he explained.
Nick looked around at the frightened guards and civilians around the room and sought to do only what he felt was right... take charge of his destiny.
"You two, get my mother out of here," Nick commanded as he pulled out his master knife.
"Men, let's go," he said, leaving the hallway with the guards.
The guards carried Queen Venora out to a secret tunnel service under the embassy, away from the fight.
Nick's clothes burned off earlier and were then later replaced with Scuttlegarde's knightly armor.
He and Arthrik met up at the bottom of the embassy, where several guards had barricaded the front door.
"I just checked with some of the guards, everyone has been safely evacuated from the embassy, and the Insurgents are making their way here," Arthrik said to Nick.
He nodded as he examined the room.
"Has anyone contacted the Guardians yet?" Nick asked Arthrik.
