On a bright day, two men entered a police precinct, one was holding a carbine rifle, and the other was carrying a shackled man.
One was carrying a rifle, while the other was carrying a shackled man.
He sat the man against a wall and knocked him out.
"Another classic roundup from two of my favorite clients," said a voice.
The two exchanged glances with a middle-aged man holding a cup of tea.
"Tell me, Nathan, how did the op go," he inquired.
Nathan laughed as he recocked the rifle and listened to the pleasant chamber sound.
"Went without any problems sir, we were met with some resistance, but we got the job done," He answered.
Tyler, next to him, nodded.
"Fortunately, the gun you gave Nathan performed at a 76 percent efficiency rate in our quest to arrest the fugitive," he added.
Ross took a long sip of his coffee while staring at the restrained prisoner.
"Did you recover the asset?" he inquired, his back to them.
Nathan cut Tyler off as he was about to respond.
"No sir, some perp stole it; he was well gone when we arrived," he explained.
Tyler gazed at him, perplexed and uneasy.
Nathan mouthed the words "trust me" to him, and fortunately for him, he agreed.
Ross stared deep into Nathan's eyes, daggers piercing his soul.
"In any case, sir, we'll take our cash and leave," Tyler replied, breaking the tension.
Tyler and Nathan each accepted their rewards and exited the precinct.
"You lads better be good now," Ross said.
They then got into their car and drove back to their residence.
Tyler received a call from one of his colleagues asking if they could meet for lunch on the way there.
Nathan, who was listening in, smiled at him.
"Was that Tess?" he wondered.
Tyler rolled his eyes before responding.
"Indeed, she wants to make plans for our date tonight," he said.
Nathan laughed.
They came to a complete halt at a traffic light.
"You haven't married her yet?" he inquired.
Tyler rubbed the back of his neck, an odd smile on his face.
He and Tess have only been together for a few years, and they have had their ups and downs, but they still adore each other.
