Prince Leo was dead, brought down by the united efforts of the Guardians, Black Rat Crew, and The Freelancers. And like all victories, they all come at a cost. Tefanya made the ultimate sacrifice and helped defeat their corrupted foe.
The troops sat in the hallways, sad since one friend had fallen. Tefanya fought in the dark, but she is now entombed in the light.
Tefanya's corpse was placed on a table, and a medical practitioner draped a white blanket over her.
Jordan approached the table.
His hands slid a section of the blanket off from her.
He saw Tefanya's lifeless white eyes. Jordan cursed beneath his breath, feeling guilty for her death.
Norrix Kane entered, her face bruised from the fighting. "You battled admirably out there, Paladin, and I'm sure Tefanya admired you that as well," she remarked. Jordan smiled at her, but it swiftly vanished as another idea entered his thoughts.
Even after the combat was done, the question remained unanswered until after he had slain Prince Leo.
"Where are you going?" Jordan enquired of Norrix Kane.
She sighed as she looked over at the table. "I assume I'll go into hiding because I'm still public enemy number one," Norrix Kane replied. She started to exit the room when Jordan stopped her.
"You don't have to go; I'm sure there are a few rooms here for you," he explained. Norrix Kane lifted an eyebrow, revealing a wicked grin. "Are you asking me to stay, Jordan Woods?" she wondered aloud. Jordan couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth, and he somehow meant every word.
"I'm suggesting that if more men like Prince Leo turned up, we could need your skills," he said.
He stroked the back of his neck, trying to think of what to say next. Norrix Kane, on the other hand, grabbed him closely, her arms wrapped around Jordan's waist as she cuddled onto his chest.
Jordan sighed and sank into the hug, thinking to himself, "this is crazy, but it's what she needed, her closest friend did just sacrifice herself."
The moment was disrupted when Sofia entered the room, enraged at what was going on between the two. "GET THE FUCK OFF THERE, BITCH!" she yelled.
Norrix Kane quickly stopped cuddling Jordan after hearing her voice.
Sofia then approached her and fastened a set of strong handcuffs around her wrist. Jordan was perplexed as he watched Sofia herd, Norrix Kane, like livestock.
Jordan hurried out of the hospital and chased Sofia down.
Sofia escorted Norrix Kane to the middle of town. She shackled the lady to the ground from her neck down. Hundreds of people gathered around, perplexed as to what was going on.
A Freelancer offered her a megaphone so she could address the audience.
"Attention, people of Atharia, I realize you're all still healing from the war last night," Sofia remarked, "but we have another problem to deal with." More people began to gather in the town center to gaze at Norrix Kane.
Sofia stared at her with such contempt, as if she had some sort of vendetta, one that could be a recipe for disaster.
"Today, I present you Norrix Kane, the mastermind behind all of this devastation," she explained.
Some of the children hurled tomatoes at Norrix Kane as the audience began to boo her.
"So now, I give you all retribution, payback for all of the ones you've lost, what do you think?" Sofia asked the audience.
