She gives me a look that says, 'you better or else' and I really didn't want to find out what the else was. So I explained almost everything that happened using the same excuse as I did with Camilla. Luckily fortune telling isn't something uncommon here so it wasn't too far fetched. It was still odd, but not as unlikely.
"Well that sounds like crazy talk, but the fact that you're human and have a genuine staff...well maybe you're not completely crazy." that went about as well as expected. "Anyway, since you're here, and apparently staying, why don't you help me with a little something." Off to see the warden! The stupidest warden of all! Oh boy. I can feel the disgust already.
Time Skippy
We made it back to the Owl House, no one was terribly hurt, thankfully. Mostly everything happened the same as the show. The only exception was I wasn't as freaked out when Eda got her head cut off and I wasn't as eager to get home. Don't get me wrong, Earth is ok, but I'm needed here. At least from what the Titan said anyway. King was sad because of his crown but I did remember to pack an old cosplay crown for him. I don't know why it was laying around but it was. Luckily I found it when I did. I really do t know why Luz had a doll with a crown, but I was always worried it would fall off his head and he'd step on it. Bringing a crown was a good idea because he was much happier now and Eda let me have an old room that she doesn't use.
"Hey kid.'' I'm startled out of my musings by Eda who was standing in the doorway. Her face was serious and it was almost scary.
"Something wrong?" I was genuinely confused as to what she was so serious about.
"Nothings wrong per se, I just have a question for you." I nod at this m, indicating for her to continue. "Why do you look a lot like me?" At this my eyes widen. I haven't looked in a mirror since I got here. I quickly run to the bathroom and stare at my reflection in shock. Then I think back to the very beginning, trying to figure out what happened.
It hit me like a truck. The titan. He said gifts but I only found the staff. There was nothing else there. At least so I thought. ".........no way...." it was all I could muster up. I mean what do you say to something like this. My eyes were the same as Eda's with little red and white flecks. My teeth were pointy and sharp. I ran my tongue over them, wincing as I feel a cut form. My hair was it's usual brown, but it was mixed with the color of Eda's before she got the curse. It's like part of my DNA was replaced with Eda's. My eyes widened for the 100th time today. If this much of my physical body changed then......
"Eda, show me a spell." I had to know. She draws a simple light spell and there it was, clear as day. The light glyph that was the start of magic training for the original Luz was there, right in the center. I gasp before putting up a shaking hand and making the same circle.
It was there.
I shouldn't be able to do this.
I shouldn't be able to see them like this.
I should only be able to use them.
This should be impossible.
This is supposed to be impossible.
But there it was.
I was doing magic.
Without glyphs.
Both mine and Eda's mouths dropped in surprise. Eda looked about ready to faint.
"I can't deal with this right now. We'll talk about this tomorrow, right now I need some sleep." Eda was about to leave and before I could stop myself I said the stupidest thing ever.
"Don't forget your elixir." If she turned around any faster I would worry she'd break her back. All she did was stare at me before sighing and nodding. I went back to my new room and plopped on my sleeping bag before hearing little footsteps outside the door.
"*ahem* your sleep cocoon looks fluffy..." I just smile softly and pat my bag. He runs over and curls up like a cat before going to sleep. I text my mom that I'm safe and everything is ok before joining him in the land of sleep.
However, dreamland was going to have to wait.
I was once again in the white room. Memories of the last time I was here ravaged my mind causing my body to shake in fear. I had hoped that had been the last time I would have to encounter this room. But that was proven flawed thinking.
"Child" the voice that had saved me from Belos' shadow thundered through the room causing me to freeze. My body moved as though it wasn't my own, turning me once again to the pedestal. The book was there again. The same lock that had been there the last time had become rusted and aged from the time I had last been here. Something about it felt different though. Almost like something blocking it was taken away.
"Your memories shall be yours once more" My body had once again begun to move forward toward the book.
"His rein on your mind has ended." My hand grips the lock, the rust crumbling off, returning it to its once golden luster.
"Find the one who holds the key." My body turns, revealing a shadowed figure behind me. Her features are familiar but hidden at the same time. I can't help the feeling of familiarity that washes over me. I know her, but I don't know who she is.
"Only then shall you get what you seek" the shadow figure blows away like a gust of wind, swirling around me and plunging me into total darkness as my consciousness leaves my reach.
