"So, any guys catch your eye?" Erin asked Jane. She was trying to subtly drop the hint that Carlos had a thing for her. They were in the top level of the Amphitheater, waiting for ROAR practice to start. Jane was in her cheerleading uniform, still going through different things for Cotillion. Since Audrey wasn't around, Jane took her chance to join the squad, and Erin had never seen the girl happier. Erin was there to support and cheer on Jay. The coach made him captain of the ROAR team, and Erin couldn't be prouder.

As Jane swiped through her tablet, she asked, "What do you mean?"

Erin huffed and snatched the tablet out of Jane's hands, stealing the brunette's attention. "I mean, do you like anyone? Come on, answer me before I start sounding more like Tay."

"Well, there is this guy..."

Erin gasped and clapped excitedly, hoping she was talking about Carlos. But before Jane could reveal the boy's identity, Jay's voice echoed around the room. "Alright, boys. Let's line it up. Carlos, you're with me. Let's go."

Jay, Carlos, Chad, and the rest of the team were in their uniforms with swords and helmets in hand. While they got into position, Jay sent a quick wink up to Erin before resting his helmet on the crown of his head. Jane smirked and bumped Erin's hip, making the redhead blush even more.

"It's Lonnie!" Jane exclaimed when the mystery fighter tore off her helmet. Erin let out a laugh of excitement, clapping for her friend. She was watching Jay in awe, never growing tired of his agility and athleticism, but when Lonnie revealed herself excitement settled in.

Jay was impressed. "Not bad."

"You should put me on the team," Lonnie confidently stated. Erin cheered in agreement, sending all eyes to her. Jay smirked at her and she nonchalantly shrugged. Lonnie smiled at the redhead in appreciation, glad she had the support of her friends.

But that didn't matter to Chad. "Hey, w-what?! No, no, no," he stuttered while rushing to Jay's side. "We'll- We'll be the laughing stock of the league. A-And what's gonna happen next? We'll have girls playing Tourney? Come on, guys," he scoffed.

"So?" Jay asked incredulously. A proud smile spread across Erin's lips. Jay never ceased to amaze her, always proving that he was so much different than most Auradon boys.

Chad scoffed again. "So? Uh, so, have you not read the rule book? Section 2, paragraph 3, 11-4," he said while taking the rule book from his pocket and flipping through the pages. Erin rolled her eyes as he read, "A team will be composed of a captain and eight men. Hmm? What don't you read the rule book?"

"Okay, yeah, but you're down a man!" Lonnie argued. "I mean since Ben had to leave to do all that king stuff."

"Exactly. We're down a man."

Erin had to grit her teeth so she wouldn't step on Jay's toes. She knew Jay wanted to continue to earn his role as team captain, and he wanted to continue to fit in in Auradon.

"Jay..." Lonnie tried.

Erin could practically see Jay's internal conflict and wanted to wrap him up in a comforting embrace. "I'm sorry," Jay said dejectedly. "Coach trusts me. I'm not gonna stay captain if I just throw out the rule book."

"If my mother thought that way, she would have lost the war," Lonnie bit. Guilt seeped deeper into Jay's chest.

Gloating, Chad waved the rule book at Lonnie and muttered, "Okay. Rule book, Rule book."
