While Taylor and Evie helped Mal out of her dress, Erin left to find Jane and discuss Cotillion. They still had to get Mal's opinion on party favors, lights, banners, napkins, and other things. Erin was swiping through the numerous options on each subject, wondering which ones Mal would like best. She also couldn't wait to hear what Ben decided for his special surprise.
While she waited for Jane by a set of stone steps, the group of VKs walked along the stone path that led to her. Jay and Carlos were in front while Mal, Evie, and Taylor walked behind. As they walked, Jay unintentionally caught the eyes of every girl they passed. He politely waved back at them when they said hi, but that was as far as it would ever go.
"Why do you torture them?" Carlos asked playfully. "Don't they know you're with Erin?"
Jay chuckled and shrugged when his brown eyes landed on the back of a certain redhead. "Speaking of..." he quietly said, pointing at his girl. He gestured for Carlos to stay quiet before charging forward and sweeping Erin up into a spinning hug. She shrieked in surprise, which turned into laughter when she realized it was her boyfriend.
"Jay!"
"Hey, princess," he replied while gently setting her down. "How are you?"
Erin smiled and leaned into Jay's body. "Better now."
"Me too," Jay hummed.
Carlos groaned while coming up beside the couple. "Ugh, we get it, you're in love."
"I take it you still haven't talked to her," Erin deduced.
Jay became confused as he looked between his girlfriend and best friend. "Talk to who?"
"No, I haven't," Carlos admitted before looking at Jay with hope. "Um, Jay... what's the best way to ask someone to Cotillion?"
A confident smirk adorned Jay's face, making Erin playfully roll her eyes. "Listen, all you gotta do... is look like me."
"Oh, haha," Carlos retorted, pushing Jay's hand off his shoulder. Erin scoffed and gently pulled Jay back while he laughed.
"Carlos, don't listen to him. Just be yourself. If she's the one, she'll like you for you," Erin advised.
"Thanks, Rin."
"Here's your chance," she replied with a wink. Carlos's eyes widened and he turned around, seeing Jane and Lonnie coming their way.
The small brunette smiled and sped up upon seeing Mal. "Mal."
"Hey, Jane," Carlos interjected nervously.
"Hey."
Erin leaned into Jay's side as the couple watched the scene. Jay caught onto what was happening and was proud of his friend. "How'd you know?" He whispered in Erin's ear.
"Intuition."
"I was wondering... uh... if you liked the... carrot cake last night," Carlos stumbled.
"I had the pumpkin pie," Jane corrected kindly.
Carlos's shoulders deflated a little. "Oh, cool. Um, uh-"
Jay leaned forward and rested his hands on Carlos's shoulders, shaking the white-haired boy from his daze. "Smooth," Jay whispered before pulling Carlos away. Erin lightly slapped Jay's back, making him chuckle before leaning down to capture Erin's lips in his. "See you at practice?"
"I'll be there," she whispered.
He winked at her, making Erin blush. "Great. Bye."
"See ya." She smiled at their retreating figures before looking back at the group of girls.
