Jay and Carlos took the limo and snuck back into Auradon. The ride was quiet. Jay's mind flashed with images of Erin. He pictured her beautiful smiling face whenever she saw him. Then he pictured that same face devoid of the same light and hope it always held. He saw her behind bars, scared out of her mind. He could only imagine that she felt as helpless as him, not knowing when or even if he'd save her. Jay wanted to be with her. He wanted to show up for her now. Hell, he didn't even want her to go. He could have stopped her. He should have stopped her. But Erin had always placed others' needs ahead of hers. For good reason, Erin was scared for Ben's safety as well as Jay's.
He should never have brought her to the Isle. He should have known better. Now, she was in danger and it was all his fault.
While Jay reprimanded himself, Carlos sat in silence, wondering what he could say or do to reassure his friend.
There was nothing.
Carlos knew the only thing that would lift Jay's spirits was having Erin back in his arms, safe. He also knew that Jay was beating himself up over everything that had happened. Carlos knew nothing would change Jay's mind, but he would be there for his friend no matter what.
When the boys arrived at the front of the school, they got out and hurried to their dorm. Time was of the essence.
Jay and Carlos quietly ran through the halls before finally approaching their room. Dude ran out to greet them, which confused Jay, but Carlos was so excited to see his furry pal after their longest separation that he didn't give it a second thought.
Holding the mutt in his arms, Carlos cooed, "Oh, I'm sorry I'm so late, Dude. Ben got captured."
Jay stalked towards the door while Carlos distractedly followed, but Jay shot out his arm upon seeing the door ajar. "Don't," he ordered. "Why is our door open?"
With furrowed brows, the boys slowly inched towards their room, expecting an ambush. Being back on the Isle warped their perception, and they had to remember where they were.
After Jay glided the door open a bit more, both boys relaxed but became annoyed when they saw Chad inside using their 3D Printer.
Jay had to do everything in his power not to strangle the pompous prince. The printer was the only way they would be able to save Erin and Ben, yet Chad had the audacity to sneak in here and use it for his own personal gain. It damaged Jay's opinion of Chad, and it wasn't a good one to start.
"You've got to be kidding me," Carlos scoffed.
Chad chuckled sheepishly. "I knocked."
Carlos placed Dude down, and the mutt scurried away while Carlos and Jay glared at the prince. Then Jay actually saw what Chad was creating and asked, "What is that?"
"Oh," Chad laughed and took his creation from the machine. "That's a little Chad action figure. Zoom!"
He laughed like a child as he pretended to make the doll fly, but it was clear to see that it didn't have a head. "Well, minus the head."
"Sounds like an improvement," Carlos jabbed. "Excuse me."
The boys pushed Chad towards the door and hovered over the machine as Carlos programmed the wand's schematics into the printer. "All right. Here we go," he muttered.
Being naturally nosy, Chad peered over their shoulders and gasped when he saw what they were going to print. With wide eyes, Jay and Carlos spun around as Chad asked, "Why are you guys making Fairy Godmother's wand?"
While Carlos was flustered at being confronted, Jay's patience was wearing thinner by the second. He just wanted to get the wand and get Erin to safety. These distractions were growing tiresome.
