Erin and Jay were still locked in a strong embrace, whispering reassurances to each other when Carlos, Evie, Lonnie, Ben, and Dude ran towards them from the exit. They separated and helped their friends get into the car.

"Thank you, Lonnie," Jay said sincerely. He thanked her for helping them defeat Uma and her goons. He thanked her for helping them get Ben back. But above all, he thanked her for helping them free the love of his life.

Lonnie smiled at him, glad she could help. "Let's pack up the swords and go."

Jay nodded and helped her put them in the trunk while Carlos coaxed Dude into the limo. "Come on, Dude, hop in."

Dude obeyed. "Oh, now you listen to me," Carlos scoffed. Then Evie came over and followed after Dude before Carlos climbed in. Lonnie and Ben got in as well, and Jay finally realized that Mal didn't come out yet.

He nodded at Erin to get in the front and watched her close the door behind her before calling, "Mal!"

Finally, she appeared and threw her sword in the trunk as the others did before diving into the back seat. Jay went around and got in the driver's seat, and started the car before screeching away, back to Auradon. To safety. Home.

It was quiet other than everyone catching their breaths from running for their lives. Erin and Jay intertwined their fingers, clutching onto each other for dear life. After being forcibly separated from each other, they would never take each other for granted again.

Ben was the first to break the silence. "I'm really sorry that things didn't go the way you wanted them to," he said to Mal. He felt bad that Mal wouldn't be able to stay behind. It was too dangerous.

"I mean, as long as you're safe, that's..."

"Well, I mean, at least I got to see the Isle. They're my people, too," Ben started before getting lost in his memories. "Uma helped me see that."

Mal goggled at him. "Ben, Uma captured you. She captured Erin and threatened her."

At the reminder, Erin and Jay tightened their grasp on each other and shared a mournful look. Knowing he needed to keep Erin's spirits up until they could talk fully, Jay gave her a small smile and kissed the back of her hand.

It worked.

Erin smiled at his loving gesture and settled into the seat, gazing at the side of Jay's face affectionately.

"She's an angry girl with a bad plan," Ben defended. "That's not so different from you when you came to Auradon, Mal."

Mal's breath hitched at his comment while everyone stared on. The limo was filled with an awkward air.

Erin understood where Ben was coming from. She saw the conditions young children were being forced to live in firsthand. It wasn't fair, and Erin wished she could help them all.

But Uma and Harry tortured her. They threatened her to join their side, and when she didn't comply, they were ready to feed her to the sharks without an ounce of remorse. If they managed to escape, Uma would have gone straight for Erin's family to seek her mother's revenge.

There was no saving those who couldn't be saved.

"Awkward," Dude chimed.

Carlos held his furry friend tighter and said, "Dude, I know you can talk, but it doesn't always mean you should."

The rest of the ride was spent in awkward silence, and the tension could be cut with a sword.

Soon, the group arrived back in front of the school and piled out of the limo. Jay opened the trunk and led Erin with him, meeting up with Lonnie. He helped her lift the swords out. During the ride, he thought about Lonnie's part in getting Erin back. Lonnie was an amazing fighter and deserved a shot to prove herself.
