Life have been such a challenge to me. I was born in Fontaine, the city of Justice, ruled by the God of Justice, who wasn't fair at all. They kicked me and so many ondines out of Fontaine, without an explanation. Then, I decided to ride a Hydro Slime and flow until I get to a safe place. And there she was, Lumine.
Lumine took care of me as a traveling companion for many years, but fate called her to return where she came from. And so as not to feel that she was abandoning me, she asked Sucrose to take care of me, and she accepted, in order to study the ondines, but this investigation turned into something else.
My wish was always to understand humans, and how the world worked, and Albedo along with Sucrose, gave me the key to understand it. I became a Semi-Human. And as time went by, Albedo and Sucrose showed me how love worked, they never fully said it, but it felt like that. And the most important fact is that I felt.
I started to see Sucrose and Albedo not as mentors, but as my parents, and I forgot where I came from and who kicked me out of my home. And as time passed, I forgot the betrayal of Rhodeia, and chose that my family would be those who welcomed me with open arms. And likewise, the love that they both had flowed more and more, and ended up in an ocean.
My companion made Sucrose feel at home, since I always reminded her of her little sister. She was always in doubt about what happened to the girl, and Sucrose didn't know what to tell me since she didn't know either. Then, a great idea came to my mind, and before starting her working day that day, I proposed her to buy some things and then coming back home. And she did.
Sucrose that day had a date in Starsnatch cliff, so she needed to hurry. And at afternoon we were ready for starting.
—“I got what you asked me, Endora” —She came back with a bag full of stuff. —“Can you tell me what are your plans, please?”
—“We are doing an altar” —I said to her, who, when I spoke the words, her eyes turned crystal clear.
Somehow I understood Sucrose's pain, but I would never be able to feel what a loss it is. Although I know that yes or yes I will have to live hers, since ondines live a thousand years. The best I can do is try to learn.
We put together a small pedestal in the hallway upstairs, between the two rooms. I asked Sucrose to put something that reminded her of Glucose, and she chose a Windwheel Aster. She talked about how she used to go to Windrise to pick flowers before her departure, and that they were one of the moments she would love the most in her life.
Both began to talk about what they wanted to be while resting on the tree. “I want to be a lawler!” she always said. “What do you wanna be when you grow up, Sucrose?” She asked her. “Me? When I grow up? Well, I want to be an alchemist, and create a whole plants Domain, and bring back my old friends.” She always answered. “If I can create our childhood dreamed paradise, they will come back, I know it”.
Fate seemed to be positive for both of them, until their parent decided to travel once again, and somewhere real far from home. Their destinies seemed to be lost, but the only one who managed to follow her dream was Sucrose. Instead, Glucose did not have the guts to stay and decided to follow the orders of those chaotic parents. And that's how that same morning that they decided to leave, Glucose and her family had dug their own grave.
The fact that she had not heard from them for over 10 years made Sucrose anxious, and she sometimes regretted pursuing her career. She tried to abandon her dreams several times, but he kept her dreams and effort from going to waste. Timaeus was the one who motivated her for a long time thanks to their friendship, and little by little Sucrose learned to live with constant worry. Still, she would have liked to know what happened to her family, she even wanted to know if they had managed to reach Liyue. But fate is uncertain, and for every sadness it rewards you with happiness.
And Sucrose's reward was finding someone, not to help her forget, but to muffle the pain and somehow, her family's concern was no longer a burden to her. But to close this painful stage, I suggested to Sucrose to make an altar. If they are alive, one day they will make it home safely, and if not, the light will guide them to Celestia.
And just as she made an altar for her family, I also made it for mine, Lumine. You accompanied me throughout this journey, you helped me to reunite with my sister and just as you gave me the opportunity to have a family. I don't know where you are, Lumine, but wherever you are, fly high and meet your brother again. You and I will meet again when Hydro Archon decides that my time has come to an end.
Sucrose came up to me, and hugged me. A hug as warm as she could hug that girl who got out of her arms. Her mind was at peace, and whatever their fate is, she always wish they were okay. It was no longer a weight on his conscience.
Sucrose was ready to let go of the past, and hold onto the near future, where she would finally accept Albedo and me as her family. She was ready for a new stage in her life, just as I am ready to understand the world.
