I brought the Protogen over to the interrogation room. It was a small, prison-like room, with a table in the middle and two chairs on either side. There were no windows or any other entrance besides the one to get into the room. I thought about how I was going to go about getting information out of him. ‘Could I go bad cop or good cop?’ I thought. While I was thinking, I hadn’t realized that the protogen was talking to me.
“Hello? Are you even listening?” asked the Protogen. “What? Oh sorry, I was lost in thought. What did you say?” I responded. “What I was saying was what is going to happen to me?” said the Protogen. “Well, depending on how compliant you are and how much information you give me, but most likely, you will be sent to a mining planet to serve your sentence,” I answered. He gave me a sad look. “Does that mean I’ll be separated from Jack?” he questioned. “Who’s Jack? Is that the human with you?” I said. He nodded. I couldn’t help but feel bad for the guy. He seems to have a connection with this human. No, get ahold of yourself, I can’t be feeling bad for the prisoner! “Yes, you will most likely be separated,” I responded. He gave me one final, pleading look before resting back into his chair. “Ok, we are going to start the interrogation now,” I said. He nodded.
“What is your name?” I asked. “EG-7531, or Evergreen,” he said. “Why did you escape from the planet you were residing on?” I questioned. “The conditions were horrible. No one was nice to me, and the guards beat me every day, and the mines were terrible. If you were in the position I was in, you would’ve done the same thing,” he responded. “I see. Okay, next question, who is Jack, and why do you care about them so much?” I said. I noticed his expression seemed to become something along the lines of blushing. “W-Well he found me when I crashed landed on Earth, and we became friends quite fast. I r-really care about him a lot,” he answered. “I see. You both seem to like each other a lot,” I said. He started to blush even more. ‘Hmm. Interesting,’ I thought. “What did you get arrested for originally?” I asked. “I...don’t remember. It was so long ago, and they never really told me what I was charged with,” he shrugged. “Huh, that is interesting,” I said. “Well, that is all the information I need, at least for now, so I’ll go ahead and add this to your case file, and I will be back here shortly, okay?” I said. “Alright,” he said.
I stepped out of the room and locked the door. I proceeded over to my office, where I brought up Evergreen’s case file. “Weird, there is barely anything on here,” I said aloud. I shrugged it off and added the details and log file of the interrogation to the file. I finished and got up, but stopped as a sudden thought came to my head. ‘Why would his case file be practically empty? Surely there would be some sort of record or something. Something fishy is going on,’ I thought. I continued my way back to the cell. I opened the door and walked over the protogen. “Okay bud, I have everything I need. I’m going to bring you to your holding room while we wait to see what to do with you and your partner,” I said. He stood up. “Okay,” he said.
I led him out of the room and towards his room, where he would stay for the foreseeable future. We walked through the hallways and towards the holding rooms. I am quite jealous of Evergreen though. The holding rooms are quite nice, much like hotel rooms, or something of the sort. Very nicely furnished and decorated. Looks a lot nicer than my office, that’s for sure. I swiped my keycard and the door slid open. “Here we are. Your room. Let me go ahead and uncuff you,” I said. “Thank you,” he said.
I walked back to the holding cell, where Jack was. “Hey, it’s time for your interrogation,” I gestured to him to follow me. “Okay,” he said. Hopefully this goes as well as Evergreen’s did.
