+Dinner was always a big deal in the Temple. Everyone was usually off of their duties for the day. The mess hall was loud and heavy with Lycans. Crixus sat at the Noble table, staying away from the loud voices. Kye bounced around between tables. Saying hello to his friends and making jokes. He didn't seem to mind being in public as much anymore. Crixus however still hated it. He would have much rather had dinner in his room.
Crixus sat with a few other Ethelwulf and was soon joined by Rai. She set her plate down beside him making him sigh."Hello Rai. Returned for more cryptic shit?"
"No. I'm hungry."
Rai replied sitting beside him. Crixus looked over at her and she smiled.
"Maybe a bit more shit. I spoke with Kye today."
"I heard. He speaks highly of you all the time."
"Shame he doesn't know me as well as you do or he wouldn't."
Rai said laughing. Crixus shook his head sighing.
"What did you mean earlier?"
"I don't know how much more I could explain it Crixus."
Rai shrugged spooning her food.
"I like seeing this side of you again. I thought it was lost..."
"He seems to just cut my anger."
Crixus admitted. More to himself then Rai. She looked at him and asked.
"Like not hitting people?"
"Yes. I come home pissed off at the world and as soon as his see his face...I smile..."
"He's good for you. Good for your soul."
Crixus gazed across the room at Kye. He was laughing and talking with his friends. Happy as can be.
"I don't know what it is about him."
"You know what it is. You've felt this before."
Rai said softly. Her voice full of memories. Crixus tore his eyes away from Kye and looked at her. She met his eyes and said.
"I know what happened last time. This is different."
"I know that. Kye knows that. You know that."
Crixus growled softly. Rai reached out and held his hand tightly.
"I'm not saying this is easy. I just want you to know I couldn't be happier for you. I remember you before this world flipped upside down. I see him again now and I don't want him to leave. You are a great male Crixus and your parents would be so proud of you. Don't let those terrible memories hurt this chance you have been given."
"It won't."
Crixus took his hand back and sighed.
"I won't let it fall apart."
Rai nodded and turned back to her food.
"You know I care for you Crixus...as if you were my own. I just want you happy."
"I know. Thank you Rai."
A few moments later Kye wandered over and sat on the other side of Crixus. He gazed around the mess hall quiet. Crixus caught his attention and growled.
"You alright?"
Kye nodded and smiled.
"Yeah. Oh hello Rai, I didn't see you there."
"Good evening Kye. I see you have made many friends in your short time here."
"A few yes."
He answered nodding.
