charlie's soft hand intertwines with my own, warming up my cold skin. i continue to walk through the silent woods, the grey sky making it mysterious as i don't know where i'm going. the orange leaves and sticks crunch under my converse, every step i take the more curious you become.

"charlie where are we going?" i whine, lightly tugging on his arms; in attempt for him to give in and tell me.

"it's a surprise" he cheeky grins at me, making me groan. the sky is now a more blue, a light blue. the air is chilly as the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck rise.

charlie knows this place better than i do.

let's go of my hand and quickly runs down a slope, the dry mud flicking up in the air. he holds out his arms, taking my hands in his soft ones. i slowly walk down the hill, careful not to fall.

"charlie, are you sure you know where you're going?" i raise an eyebrow.

"positive. i come here to get stuff off my mind, whenever i'm stressed. only i know this place. and i wanted to show it to you." he smiles. we soon stop by a fence, with a huge sign that says 'do not pass'.

"charlie-" i get cut off his his hand covering my mouth.

"shhh. look." he points next to me and i turn around and see the beautiful sun set. the colours slowly mixing together, the bright oranges and pinks fade in the sky; covering up all the blue. my jaw dropped at the beautiful view of the fall sky.

"that's beautiful." i keep staring at it. i looked down at a picnic that he'd set up and my eyes fluttered. he was so thoughtful. the food was sat on a purple rug and his guitar was laying against the tree next to it.

"charlie.." i pouted, giving him a hug. i feel him lift me up and sit me down on his lap, making a giggle escape my lips. i comfortably sit in between his legs, leaning back and resting my head on his chest. his arms wrap round my waist as he prints soft kisses on my warm cheeks. i picked up a flower from the ground that grew beside me and played with it.

we first began to eat. he picked up strawberries along with a frosted piece of cake. i looked inside the basket to see a recognisable waffle.

"did you take these from the cafe?" i asked him and he just winked, we both started to laugh.

well, it seems to me that the best relationships - the ones that last - are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship. you know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. like a switch has been flicked somewhere. and the person who was just a friend is... suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.

"when i was in hospital, i couldn't bear the thought of never seeing you again." he spoked as he played with the curls of my hair.

god, i fell in love with him. but i don't just stay with him by default as if there's no one else available to me. i stay with him because i choose to, every day that i wake up, i choose him over and over again, and he chooses me.

"do you remember, before i passed out, when i said i needed it." i trailed my mind back to the time i was holding charlie in my arms.

"i needed your love." he said and i swore i felt my heart fall to my stomach, i felt so bad that i wasn't there for him. infact, i never actually knew how kristina and jacob managed to drug him. i didn't think he was comfortable to tell me yet.
