"Hey uh... Shelly?" Leon asked. Shelly was definitely not an easy person to find. It took him a while to travel from Retropolis to Shelly's beachside home, and then to Town, and then to Snake Prairie . It was a miracle Colt happened to be nearby when Leon was about to give up.
"Oh, Leon!" Shelly's smile widened. "You see that victory!" She had both of her arms in the air as she walked away from the grass field, which was now utterly destroyed. Man, whoever has to fix that must have a rough life.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. So um, I wanted to ask you a question and-"
"Yeah, what's the question?" She interrupted, her hands placed on her hips, doing some quick stretches.
"Well-"
"Hey Shelly!" Colette cried out. She suddenly popped out right behind Shelly. Leon and Shelly both jumped.
"Jesus Christ" Leon thought, as if she was the one who had invisibility, he just didn't get it.
Shelly forced a smile. "Hey Colette how you doing?"
Nobody really liked Colette, I mean who would? She was a constant and surprisingly expert stalker, made the Joker look sane, and not to mention she was part of the whole organization that... hell, they don't even have the full details of what it did.
There was only one time Leon ever saw her, it's when she literally popped from the garbage can proudly holding an eaten lollypop that Leon threw in there. That one experience already explained everything he needed to know about her.
"I saw you on the battlefield, you did so well!" she squealed in excitement.
"Ha! Yeah, I- uh... Tara and Bull did well too."
"Yeah, they did. That flanking maneuver those two did when a minute and 55 seconds... oh, it made my heart melt." Colette sighed dreamily as she stared up into the air.
Shelly glanced at Leon and then made an overexaggerated cough. "Hey uh, Colette I think I saw Spike playing a match in Field Goal. How about you go find him?"
"Ooh! Okay!" and just like that. Colette was already off.
"Phew, I'm gonna have to apologize later to Spike but that girl terrifies me." Shelly shuddered.
Leon nodded. "Yeah, speaking of Spike I actually wanted to ask you something about him."
"Yeah, yeah. So what is it?" Shelly was still staring off into the distance where Colette ran.
"What happened to Spike's voice?" he bluntly asked. Leon almost thought she tensed when she heard the question, but it was so brief he couldn't be sure if he just didn't imagine it.
She then scratched her head. "I... honestly don't know." Shelly winced when Leon's jaw dropped.
"B-but you were in his trio! You have to know something!"
Shelly shook her head. "Unfortunately I don't. When I found him he didn't speak and no one really questioned it. A lot of brawlers felt uncomfortable just being with others when we first made the town. Just wasn't really a big concern."
"Well, he had a voice before didn't he?"
Shelly shrugged. "Everyone knows that much, but no one knows how. Maybe someone even closer to him would." Leon groaned. Another long trip to find another person.
"Yeah, who could be closer than a person that's literally been with him for most of his life?" he asked.
"Well. A person that's been with him for his whole life." Shelly said.
Leon's raised his eyebrow. "Who?"
Shelly smiled when she gave him his answer. "Sakura Spike."
