Chapter 5

9:17 pm

I must have fallen asleep at some point during feeding and burping Austin. I woke up with my head resting on the armrest, my knees up to my chest and Austin cuddled up in my arms close to my face. I lifted my head and gently ran my pointer finger up and down the bridge of his nose like I did at the beginning of the day. Then as I was watching him sleep my iPod buzzed from in my back pocket. I reached and grabbed it. I had three messages from Julia and several Facebook notifications. I punched in my passcode and read my messages from Julia.

"Hey" at 7:59 pm

"Cassidy?" at 8:17 pm

"Are you at my place?" at 8:30 pm

"Dad and I are coming home at around 10:00 just so you know" at 8:59 pm

I rubbed my eyes and then replied.

"Hey sorry Jules. Yah I'm at your place, I fell asleep. See you guys soon."
Then I wondered, "does she know I have Austin?" I sat and wondered and then I was caught off guard by the jingle of Julia's text. I looked down and she had said something along the lines of "okay ttyl:)" than I turned off my iPod and threw it to the other side of the couch. I then tried to reposition myself without waking up Austin and failed. He rubbed his eyes but surprisingly he didn't cry. He just lifted his head and looked around the room. I sort of laughed under my breath and then sat up and held him up under his armpits and make him stand on my legs.

He giggled and his legs flew up and down as he jumped up and down in my lap. His huge opened-mouth grin made me giggle as it is all only his gums besides his one tiny bottom tooth.

After about 10 minutes of holding him and letting him stand on me I put him on his hands and knees and let him crawl around. I kept a close watch on him though as he can get ahold of things really easily and in new surroundings, I couldn't be sure what he could find. Than about 15 minutes had passed and I grabbed him up. He was facing away from me and my arm was around his stomach while he sat on my hipbone. I walked over to the door and picked up our bags and then walked down the hall to the staircase that led to the basement, which is Julia's room. I threw our bags in one corner and then plopped onto her bed. Then realizing that I left both my iPod and Austin's car seat up on the main level. So I got up, Austin still in the same position on my hip and I went upstairs. I went to the front door and locked it, then grabbed the car seat and walked to the couch. I looked over the back of the couch and my iPod was going off. It was now 9:58 pm and Julia was calling me.

"Hello?" I said as I answered the phone.

"Hey Cass, dad and I are about to get in the car, so we'll be there in about a half hour okay?" Julia replied.

"Okay, I'll be in your room"

"Alright"

"See you in a bit. Bye"

And with that I hung up the phone and proceeded to go down the stairs, place the car seat in the corner with our bags and then I laid down on her bed.
