10:46 am
As I watch out the window I see his car door open. My heart is racing I can feel it throbbing in my throat. I have butterflies in my stomach and it feels like I might throw up. I have a knot in my throat that is making it hard to swallow. Then...I see him. I see his familiar brown eyes glisten in the Suns light. He is dressed in a tight grey Aeropostale t-shirt with an unbuttoned flannel shirt overtop that he has rolled the sleeves up to his elbows. He has on a tight pair of jeans and he is wearing a pair of unlaced Timberlands. His hair is messily styled up and I honesty can't get over how much I've missed him. He looked up and saw me in the window. He raised his hand and smiled his perfect smile with his perfect teeth that were as white as the clouds. I waved back and hopped up off the couch and walked to the door. I stood in front of the door, pulled up my pants and fixed my tank top. Then I reached for the handle and opened it. With a gust of wind and a bright light, I wipe the hair out of my face and see him standing there. I grin wide and without a thought jump in for a hug. I wrap my arms around neck and lock my hands behind him. I feel him chuckle and he wraps his arms around my waist. As I pull back I smile and he bends down, grabs me by the waist and picks me up.
I laugh and my hair flies everywhere. His spins me around and then stops facing the door. He puts me down and smiles."Jesus Christ Cassy I've missed you!" He says as he fixes his hair.
I desperately try to find my voice but for some reason I can't. Finally I talk but I hadn't really thought about what I was saying.
"I've missed you too Mason" I say, thanking God that it wasn't something ridiculous.
He inhales and exhales but doesn't stop smiling."Well, come inside" I say and I can hear Austin becoming upset because I've left.
He agrees and we walk inside. I close the door and he walks to the couch and talks to Julia. I walk over to Austin and pick him up. I sit him on my hipbone and wipe the tears off his chubby cheeks."Oh my God." I hear Mason say. I turn around and look at him. Mason gets up and walks over to us.
"He's so adorable" Mason says with a huge grin on his face.
"Hello little Austie boy" he says, takes Austin out of my hands and sits back down on the couch beside Julia.
I smile and look at Julia. She smiles and looks from Mason to me and back again. I raise my eyebrows at her and she slightly giggles.
"Well," Julia says "I better get going. I'll be back in a few hours."
"Where are you going?" Mason asks.
"Running errands" Julia says quickly. She gets up and goes downstairs.
I sat down in her spot on the couch beside Mason, who was holding Austin up and admiring him. I just watched him with Austin. I've honestly never seen Mason's face light up so bright.
Then Mason sits Austin down in his lap and meets my glance."So.." He says "how've you been Cassy?" His grin makes me smirk.
"Better now" I say and I look down at Austin who is swinging his legs and smiling wide, exposing the gaps between his teeth.
"How've you been?" I ask, looking back up at Mason. He is looking off into the distance as if in mid thought.
"Good" he says and looks back to me.
Just then, Julia walks up the stairs. She walks to the door, sits down on the small bench and puts on her boots. She stands up, grabs her coat and purse then leaves with only a little wave and a wink. I smile and look at Mason. He looks at me.
"Want to go for a walk?" He asks.
"Sure" I say smiling.
