Escape

Chapter 15

12:15 pm

"Hey guys, I'm back!" Julia half yells as she barges through the doorway, making me and Mason jerk quickly away from each other.

My eyes flickered back and forth between Mason and Julia. I awkwardly reposition myself on the couch and am now leaning on the arm rest nearest to Julia.

"Did I ruin something?" Julia giggles as she sits down to take off her shoes.

Mason and I awkwardly sneak a peak at each other and then he rubs the back of his neck.

"I see" Julia says. "I'll be down stairs." And with that, she skips down the hall and down the stairs.

I looked over at Mason, he opens his mouth as to say something as Austin starts screaming. I pout and then walk over to him. The terribly sad expression on his little face is killing me. I bounce-walk around until his crying stops. I walk back over to Mason and sit next to him.

"What?" I ask as he smirks at me.

"Nothing" he sings and looks away.

I laugh under my breath and he smiles. Then I turn my attention back to Austin who is yawning. Then I yawn but cover my mouth.

"Tired?" Mason laughs.

"Yeah actually" I say and yawn again.

"You can sleep" he says "I won't mind." His soft smile makes my heart want to burst.

I open my mouth to say something and then yawn. Then I get up and grab a blanket from the back of the other couch, then I sit back down beside him. He stretches his arm around the back of the couch and motions for me to lay on him, and I do. I mean, what girl wouldn't. I lay back and curl up with Austin cuddled against my chest. Mason lifts the blanket and covers me with it. Within a few minutes I am drifting off to sleep. Then I can hear Masons soft whisper,

"I've missed you so much my princess" and then he leans over and kisses the top of my forehead.

I could get used to this.
