Silence.

The silence was with us the whole time we were on our way home. Though Steve asked me once if I want something to eat, he stayed silent the whole time we were driving home. I want to ask what's in his mind, but anxiety ate me.

I want to ask Steve what he observed or what he was thinking the whole time we were at the party, but I can't. I don't know if I should open the topic, but if I do, what will I say if he asks? What will I say if he asks for confirmation? What will I do if he reacts the way I am expecting?

"Laura..." Steve called while I was scanning a book in my hand.

While he just came out from our walk-in closet, I was already sitting on our bed, just finished changing his clothes. His voice sounded careful when he called my name again, making me looked at him in confusion or fake confusion since I already have an idea why he was using that voice.

"Yes?" I put my book down on my lap as my eyes looked at him.

I watched him sat beside me as his hands traveled through his hair. He licked his lips before facing me. I could read his emotions through his eyes. Confusion and fear. I know that one day, he will find out about what we really are. What we do for business. What we do for living. Just the thought of him abounding me and our son was making me feel afraid, too, because my son doesn't deserve to have abounded.  No one deserves an abondation.

"The party earlier... Who held that again?" He asked in a very careful way.

I looked away from him and started reading my book. "The Bautista family. The reason why I'm here now,"

"What?"

I tightly pursed my lips when I realized that I answered him too much. But maybe, this is good. He will start asking about how the Bautistas saved our lives before and why my great-great-grandfather almost dies before. He will no longer curious about the party nor the organization, but on the second thought, him being curious about the history between the two families will also lead him to find out about the organization, Evil Mafias.

"The Don of that family saved the Don of our family before, making the father of my father exists, making me and my brothers exist, too."I shortly explained while my eyes were still on the book.

"Oh," Steve reacted. "So, your family is close to them?"

"Not really until my cousin married one of them," I answered.

"And now, your brother is marrying one, too," Steve commented. "I heard that the Bautistas like fixing a marriage. Started from Jake Bautista, and now to Sath? Your brother's fiancee."

I looked at my husband, who currently watching my every movement. Our eyes met, making him blinked in surprise because of my reaction to what he just said.
