He dropped the rag and leaned on the counter, taking in a deep breath. He had just finished doing his assigned tasks and even after getting beaten up for trying to escort someone out, he still insisted to work.

He brought his hands up to his face and lightly slapped himself, trying to wake himself up, but he forgot about the bruise on his cheekbone and winced at the contact.

"Ouch.." A woman, who worked as a bartender there, exclaimed as she walked up to him after seeing him resting. "You might wanna put some ice on that," she said.

He scoffed, letting his hands fall onto the counter. "Forget it," he muttered. "It's not that bad.. Besides, I've been through worse."

The woman stared at him in pity, he's a hardworking fellow and despite his young age, they hired him since he got on his knees for this minimum wage job. He worked during nights and even if he wasn't well, he'd still show up to do the bare minimum.

She sharply exhaled. "Take a break, Jun."

He shook his head and tore his gaze off of the counter, staring at her straight in the eyes. "I can't do that." He deadpanned, no intentions on looking away any time soon.

She observed his stance, he was standing with a hunched back, his elbows rested on the counter, his shoulders looked like they would fall off anytime. "Walk out back, get some fresh air," she paused. "You need it."

He chewed on his lip, taking a walk did seem like a great idea and he did actually need it. His jaw clenched as he battled with his own thoughts.

The two maintained eye contact, as if fighting for dominance, and she knew she'd won when he heaved a sigh. With a smirk tugged on her lips, she patted his arm and walked away.

He walked out the back of the bar, his hoodie over his head and his hands inside his pockets. He never really liked using the back entrance, he'd have to walk through an awfully creepy and dark alleyway to get to the parking lot.

Well, since he was covering a friend's shift when Hani, the bartender, had told him to use the back door, it wasn't that creepy since his colleague usually worked during the day.

He started humming a song to himself as he dragged his feet down the quiet alley, accompanied with a few lyrics he'd sing aloud when he would turn his head to glance back. He stopped in his tracks when a high-pitched sound cut through the air, a whistle from someone else, continuing the song where he had left it off.
