It's crazy.. How we love each other,

Then hate each other."

-

Chaeyoung bitterly smiled as the waves came crashing, splashing water on her as she walks by. Her heart was broken and she felt like sh*t, especially after she slapped her best friend; harder than intended. Was she allowed to do that?

Yes and no.

Jungkook wasn't in his right mind earlier. He came to Chaeyoung's house in the middle of the night, completely wasted and yearning for her attention, she let him in. The last thing she expected was to end up on the floor with him above her, pinning her down. She hated how her heart almost jumped out of her chest when he leaned in.

Her fists clenched as she thought about it, a string of curse words escaped her lips when she felt her heart doing that thing again; hurting. She looks down as she sank, her two feet now gone in the soft sand. Her eyes closed and her mind went back to the event that happened earlier.

"Wh-What are you doing, Kook-ah?" Chaeyoung squeaked as she felt herself being trapped in his arms. A little smirk played on his lips as he gazed down at the girl, lust in his eyes and Chaeyoung knew that things aren't going to end up well if she let him be.

Jungkook lazily answered, "Chaeng-ah.. You- You're very pretty.." he slurred, Chaeyoung's breath hitched and a blush crept on her face. He heaved a sigh and she almost simultaneously plugged her nose at the alcohol scent that came from him, "Actually.. I've liked you for a long time.." he mumbled. She froze, looking into his eyes before she realized him smirking.

"You r-really do?" she stuttered, her heart was beating so loud that she swore he could hear it.

He laughed and shook his head, "No.. I was only joking-" before he got to finish his sentence, she slapped him across the face, causing him to stumble back but still regain his balance. He slowly turned his head to her, only to realize her tears that flowed down her cheeks. "You had the guts to joke about things like that?"

Her anger took over but for some reason, her fear was trying to invade. "Chaeyoung-ah.. You believed tha-" she cut him off again, by yelling. "Of course, I did, you b*tch!"

He hesitantly stepped closer, "W-Well, I-I'm sorry-" she wasn't giving him a chance. "Sorry? Sorry, isn't going to fix this sh*tty heart inside me. Do you even know what feelings are? I'm such a fool for falling in love with you.. I would've left you earlier than this if I'd known about that ridiculous heart of yours."

She felt a tear slide down her cheek and she instantly let out a breath, "Oh, for goodness sake.. Why did it have to be you in the first place?" she questioned, knowing very well that God would pay no attention to her and leave no answer.

Her hand clutches her own wrist, covering the name that was written on it. A tattoo of Jungkook's name, they both have it - tattoos of each others' names on their wrists; a sign of inevitable friendship. But will it ever last?

She pathetically cries into her own palms, feeling the cold breeze wrap around her as her heart aches. "Am I the only one hurting?"

---

"I'm not helping you with your problems again." a girl, about the same age as Jungkook, with jet-black hair said to the sobbing boy that stood on her doorstep. "Wait, but why?!" Jungkook asked, wiping the tears that formed in his eyes.

The girl scoffed and rolled her eyes, "Because it's your problem! And you're a grown man, Jungkook, you should know better than to play with a girl's heart." she stated, getting annoyed. Jungkook let out a long whine, "I'm only twenty, Eunha-yah. Plus, I was drunk!" the girl grits her teeth in frustration.

"You're turning twenty one in September."

"That doesn't mean I'm not a child at heart!"

Eunha groaned, "Whatever, this was not my problem to begin with. This is all on you, Jungkook. Solve it, on your own." she said, making sure to emphasize the last few words before she slammed the door on his face. "Eunha!"

"No one's home!"

Jungkook huffed and crossed his arms as he heaved a sigh, speedwalking to his car. "For Pete's sake, it just had to be you, Chaeng." he muttered, angry at himself, and put his keys in the ignition. He started his car and drove off to Chaeyoung's apartment, readying himself for a very cold behaviour.

. . .

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Chaeyoung's eyebrows knitted together as she heard the knocks on her door, "Who is it?" she loudly asked, curious and frightened. There was no answer, so she got up from the couch and made her way to the door. Chaeyoung's heart pounded inside her chest as she looked in the peephole, seeing Jungkook with a bouquet of lovely flowers in his hands, looking worried and anxious.

She slowly opened the door, making sure to give him her coldest gaze. "What do you want?" she asked, sternly. She saw him hesitating to speak, "What is it?" she asked, again. "I.. I-I'm sorry, for.. Last night."

She tried to control herself and maintain a straight face, failing miserably at it. "That's it?"

Jungkook forced himself to look into her eyes, "And.. And I completely understand if you don't want to remain close with me. I mean, I-I can leave your life whenever.. Just tell me when-" he stopped when he felt her slender arms wrap around his torso and her head on his shoulder, their bodies were so close that he could feel the difference between his back's temperature and his front.

"I.. Chaeng?"

"Shh.." Jungkook could feel his ears go red and his cheeks flushed. Chaeyoung smiled as she heard his heart beating erratically, "Is it true?" she questioned, confusing the boy. "What?"

"Is it true that I look very pretty?"

Jungkook's arms slowly wrapped around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer. "You always are.." she chuckled and hit his bicep playfully. "It's fast." she mumbled. "What is?"

"You have so many questions, huh?"

"Curiosity kills a cat.."

The two went silent for a few seconds before Chaeyoung asked, "Do you really not like me?" he blinked for a minute, zoning out at the question. "Listen, Chaeng.." he started and pulled her body away while he pulls his away from hers.

"I think.. It's best if we stay as friends."

"But.. Why?" Jungkook stared into her eyes, her eyes spoke 'hopeless romantic' and he found it funny. "Because- um..

It's better to lose a friend, than to lose a lover and a friend."
