7. Graduation

Remina's POV:-

Lily came running to my home.
I could hear her screaming from her home too.

"What got into that girl?" I closed my book, got up and went into the lounge and she came running inside and hugged me and stated spinning around screaming.

I separated her and asked "What happened this time Lily? What did you do now?" I said in duh tone.

"Guess what?" She said excitedly.

"What? Did you successfully killed a cockroach?" I said laughing.

"Well I can't do that still but my result came out and I  Passed" she said screaming.

"Oh my God, really that's awesome...Congratulations" I said hugging her.

"We'll go for dinner tonight to celebrate" she said

"Not today, I have an exam tomorrow. Unlike you I still have two years left in my graduation" I said pouting.

"Yeah, it's okay .... Tomorrow night?"

"Done.. come one, let's give this news to dad"

We went to tell dad about it. He congratulated lily we talked for a while not talked more like funny banter we all have and I like this most about our relationship with my dad, he's more like me and lily's 3rd crime partner. We all  decided to extort a lavish dinner from lily's father as her graduation treat. After sometime lily left and only me dad were left in his study.

"If you had let me do fashion designing, I'd have been a designer today and would  be about to start my dream job but you didn't let me do it and now I still have 2 more years in my graduation and I don't know if I'd be able to do the job or not" I said sighing

"Its been 4 years and your heart still haven't accepted medicine as your career?" He said with a disappointment in his voice.

"I'll complete my degree but I don't know if I'd ever be able to love it" I said and stood up to leave.

"Wait Ina! You know that I let you do everything you wanted for your whole life I let you take all your decisions but I couldn't let you take any other career because it was your moms decision. So I apologise to for that but i can't break my promise to her but one day you'll understand what love does to you" He said with a hint of sadness in his voice.

I didn't say anything and went to my room. I'd not let my moms dream crumble even if I don't like it or enjoy it. I'd do it for my mom.

Two years later

"Ina wake up! Your results out" Dad's voice rang in my ears.

I woke up with a jolt.

"Have you checked it out yet?" I asked pointing towards the Ipad in his hand.

"No but I'm about to" he said.

"No wait, I'll check it out first" I sprung towards him but he clicked immediately and went into lounge. I ran after him.

"Oh my God" he said shocked

"What dad? Tell me"

"Ina you failed" he said with sadness

"What, its impossible" I said

"See it yourself" Dad said and put his Ipad in front of me. I closed my eyes if he was joking he wouldn't give me his Ipad that easily I thought.

"Its okay I'll do it in my second attempt exams" I said with determination.

"But take a look at it" he said amused.

I immediately grabbed the Ipad and saw it.

"I PASSED. Dad I'm not talking to you" I said grumpily.

He stood up from his seat and came towards me and kissed my forehead.
I looked up and saw some moisture in his eyes. I immediately stood up and hugged him.

"I'm so proud of you Ina, today you fulfilled your moms wish" he said patting my cheek.

"I'm happy that you fulfilled your promise to her" I said

He nodded.

"Now I'm going to tell lily and then you have to give us a grand dinner party" I said grinning.

"Everything for you dear" he said smiling.

We went for dinner that night with me, dad, lily and her parents. We enjoyed a lot, joking, teasing each other. After a while lily's dad asked me.

"Ina, which residency program are you gonna take?"

"I think I'm not gonna do residency, uncle" I said.

"What?" Dad said shocked.

"Dad I did my M.D because you wanted me to do it. I'm not gonna do a job or residency. I'm gonna take a diploma in textile designing and then I'll start my studio" I said.

Everyone at the dinner table was shocked. There was a frown etched on dad's forehead. He was about to say something when lily said.

"I have an announcement too.
I'm expanding my studio, workload was  increasing day by day so I'm hiring two more designers" she said happily.

Lily started her on own interior designing studio with help from her father and now her studio is flourishing a lot. Everyone started talking about their ideas but dad looked distant after that for the entire evening.
We came home at 11 p.m. I came inside the lounge and collapsed on the sofa and started scrolling my phone.
Dad came and sat on the chair in front of me.

"Ina you really don't wanna practice medicine?" He asked

"Yes dad I fulfilled your wish now I'll do what I like" I said.

"Ina you worked so hard in the medical University and now you want to waste it at this point?" He said a bit disappointed.

"Dad I won't change my mind now" I said in stern tone.

"What if we make a deal?" He asked.

"What deal?"

"You take a residency program and do it for one year and if you don't like it, leave it and then you can do anything you want" he proposed his idea.

"So you want me to waste another year? And What would I get if I don't like it even after a year? I said frowning.

"Then I'll buy you a fashion studio myself and establish it for you and do whatever you say. I won't force you for anything then" he said.

"I'll think about it" I said standing up.

I went into my room changed my dress and laid on bed but sleep was far from my eyes. I tossed and turned and thought about it the whole night and I had made my decision by the morning.
