20. Story Time

Remina's POV:-

We were all sitting in doctors room talking and joking. Dr Dave was entertaining us with his jokes as usual.
Suddenly the door opened and Dr Hanaan came in. We didn't talk after the date. He's been avoiding me since. He had a brief glance at me and then sat down and started scrolling his phone. Dr Dave noticed his attitude and said "where is your Pakistani friend?"

Dr Hanaan got shocked for a moment and then looked at me. I told Dr Dave about my date but I never thought he would corner Dr Hanaan like this.

"She's at work" he said a bit annoyed now. And thank goodness Dr Dave didn't question him any more and went back to his jokes. At the same time door opened and we all looked, it was peon who was holding a tray containing ice cream cups. He told that this is a treat from someone. We all took our cups and started eating.

"Who became this generous?" Dr Sinan said and chuckled.

"I know who!" I said immediately and looked at Dr Dave and raised my eye brow. He ignored me and kept eating but I didn't stop staring at him.

"Fine! It was me!" He said.

"But what for?" Dr Sarah asked.

"Because our princess defeated Dr Sheila" Dr Dave said and everyone laughed.

Suddenly the doors opened again and we all looked at what surprise we are getting now. But very furious looking Dr Sheila entered. She looked at everyone and then crossed her arms.

"What's going on here?" She asked angrily.

"Come Dr castro join us. We are having...." Dr Hanaan said but she cut her off "Why are you all here enjoying and not on your duties. Its not an amusement park, it's a hospital" she said shouting.

It was still 15 minutes left for our lunch break but nobody argued with her and got up and went outside. I passed her but she looked at me from the corner of her eyes.

"Its all because of you. You keep them entertained with your absurd jokes that they don't do their work properly" she said to Dr Dave.

"Why do you have such a low opinion of me?" He asked fake drying his tears.

She shook her head and sat there. I went outside and almost 10 people including nurses, janitors other interns came towards me and told me that some Ms Adams wants to meet me urgently. I face palmed at her, sending a whole search party after me. I went there and saw that she was talking to Dr Ramsey. I went up to them.

"Oh God women! What are you doing here? And why did you send ten people to search me?" I asked frustrated.

"Me and uncle were worried because your phone was turned off" she said concerned.

I looked at Dr Ramsey and it seemed like he was amused by this whole ordeal. I was now embarrassed so I caught lily's arm.

"So sorry sir" I said to Dr Ramsey and then dragged lily with me. I took her to the hospital café.

"What is in this box?" I asked pointing at the box in lily's hands.

"Dad sent something to eat for you" I face palmed at that. At same time my pager beeped. It was from the nurse that my patient was not responding to the treatment. I told lily about it and asked her to sit there for a while.

I rushed to the ICU where Dr Max Goodwin was now attending my patient. He told me that previous treatment was not working and now he has started a new regime.

It took me 20 minutes to go back to lily and saw that Dr Dave was now sitting at table with her and talking continuously at which she was nodding, looking a bit uncomfortable. I walked up to them and heard "are you a doctor?" Dr Dave asked Lily.
